V.G. Blog-The PS3 Elite: Vol. 1

Here are some of the PS3's best games and my reviews for them.
Metal Gear Solid 4

MGS4 is, i think, the best game or the past few years, if not decade. The game is just plain beautiful. You'll notice that when you watch a cutscene(which you'll spend most of your time doing), the graphics look the same in the scene as when you play the game!! I've never seen a game look so polished, but yet so gritty at the same time.

So it looks great, but how does it play? I've played MGS1 and 3, and those are good games, but the controls are clunky. Shoothing someone is a chore; but not in this one. Just hold the L1 button and press R1 to start shooting. The guns are also customizable....even though i must admit I didnt customize or buy weapons very often. Every control in the game just feels right....like when you want to camofloge yourself just simply go next to a wall or object and your octocamo will do the work for you. That is a big improvement over the 3rd game.

In conclusion, if you liked the other 3 games, or like shooters/action games, or if you have a PS3, BUY this game. Its that good. Its a lil on the hard side, but you feel so good after beating it. You definantly get your money's worth with this game.

Killzone 2

KZ2, is the best shooting game of the past 10 years. I wont say its the best all time, b/c i seem to remember a game called Goldenye 007 lol. Anyway i will break this game down right quick.

Okay the story is good, but i felt the 1st game had a slightly better story. I havent beaten the game yet, but from what i've played, its the most amazing single player mode ever. The Helghast are smart, formidable foes. Theres even some special enemies to deal with. Theres just so much excitement in the game its insane!

Yes the controls are very realistic. The game feels "heavy" well thats how it would be in real life. I really dont agree with reviews that give this game a 8.0 just for that. If i'm not mistaken, its about the same as KZ1 so you can't complain too much lol.

THe multiplayer will ensure you'll never get tired of this game. What separates this from other games is the fact you'll be doin "body count" mode which is team deathmatch...then all of a sudden you're doing search and destroy, or caputure and hold....the game keeps you on your toes.

I didnt talk about the graphics since you already know those are the best for a Console FPS....or maybe any FPS. With all that said, i'm a lil surprised GS gave it a 9.0 when this game is nothing less than a 9.5. Anyway BUY THIS GAME. You will get more than you paid for.

Uncharted 2

Man i read reviews and this and that on this game, and i couldnt believe the hype until i played this. This is without a doubt the 2nd best ps3 game to date. And its one of the best all time. The presentation is part of what makes it so great. It doesnt have the best story, but itsn not a bad one. The graphics are just plain beautiful. The voice acting is top notch.I luv seein how realistic Drake and the others characteres move/act. Everything else looks great too.

The controls seem to work great too. They're very simplistic. I like the cover system. The game feautres a lot of platforming. For the most part its fun, but pretty unrealistic. I dont care if Drake has the best hands in the world but those jumps from Iedge to ledge are pretty crazy. That aside the single player game is amazing and has good length.

The multiplayer is good too. You got Team Death match, Elmination, and the all important co-op modes for 3 players. The Co-op is a pretty unique experience.

Overall this is a must have for any PS3 owner. I pray that Sony does not put this on the xbox 360.....but the game is so "big" i dont think they can! Good job Naughty Dog!!!

Nas Albums Worst to Best

20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe has come back, and with a classic album. He seemed to be back on tracks with Food and Liquor II, but F&L2 wasn’t as fun to listen to as his earlier albums. Even LASERS was more fun. This album however, is very complex and fun to listen to. It’s also incredibly well produced. Lupe proves he’s still a top lyricist in the game. Check out his lyrical showcase on Mural, or storytelling on  Prisoner 1 & 2. He’s got a really long song called Chopper which features a lot of guests but its all good. The last song might be the weakest which features Ab-Soul. No Scratches feat. Nikki Jean is one of my favorite songs here. The interludes are pretty intersing, but ultimately skippable. This album is already up for album of the year, and honestly it will be hard for anyone to match this effort. The verdict... its 10/10 for me. This is a great album
