Top Rap Albums of 2014 (1st Half)

Wassup. I realize this blog is a little overdue. Anyways lets get into it.... 10) Rick Ross- Mastermind: Rick Ross album got a lot of hate, but Ross fans(like myself) know that he's still on point. The new album isnt his best, but its about as good as GFID album that he dropped in 2012. 9)YG-My Krazy Life: YG isnt a great lyricist, but the west coast rapper has a lot of charisma, and he knows how to make hit songs. He raps like a veteran, and this album is worth checking out.  8)Iggy Azalea: The New Classic: Iggy's debut album is decent. She's a force to be reckoned with. She has good flow and delivery. She's very bitter on most of these songs though. "No Money no family, 16 in the middle of Miami" raps Iggy. 7)Mobb Deep- The Infamous Mobb Deep: MD is a gritty East Coast Veteran rap group. This album reminds you why they are some of the best. Guests iinclude Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, The Lox, and Nas. 6)Cy Hi Tha Prynce-Black Hystori Project: Dude is nice. He&

Mariah Carey's Me, I Am Mariah..The Elusive Chanteuse Album Review

The latest Mariah Carey album is really good, but not quite as good as her last effort. The last one was the perfection of that modern R&B sound she had been trying to perfect. This album is like her trying a lot of different sounds, including gospel. The album is well produced as well and MC’s lyrics are on point. Her singing is also really nice. Creatively it’s a great album, but there’s not too much experimenting here. The album is a bit long, but the guest spots are well used. They include Wale, Fabolous, Nas, and Miguel. This is another win for her, and it may be enough to make fans forget about those horrible albums she released in the early 2000s. I give this album a 9/10...its banging like Mariah lol

Ab-Soul's These Days.... Review

Ab-Soul is back, and with an easier album to digest. The album’s weakest points are its production. Besides that, the album is very creative and pretty fresh sounding. I liked about every song. I wasn’t feeling the 24 minute long track at the end though. The guest spots are well used as well. The Kendrick Lamar interlude is really hot as well. Lyrics are the album’s strength, and I feel it’s a little bit better than Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron album. I look forward to future Black Hippy projects. 8.25/10 for this album

Transformers Age of Extinction Movie Review

I feel like this review is long overdue, but I just saw it last week lol. This was my #1 movie I was looking forward too this year. U know it didn't disappoint me, but it didnt blow me away either. Its like the Transformers bar has been raised to ridiculously high expectations. Im not going to have spoilers here. I liked Mark W. in this. He did his thing. His character was really likeable. The guy with the glasses is also pretty cool once he...ok no spoilers. The dino bots were dope, but too bad they were at the back of the movie. The movie is dark, way darker than Dark of the Moon(iRonic right?). Age of Extinction keeps you guessing which is cool. Theres man made Transformers who...okay i'll stop. The villains are pretty cool. Optimus kicks ass as usual, but not as much as Im used to seeing. Maybe it's because hes up against tough Transformers. The Autobots are also pretty likeable here too. The movie is a bit long, but honestly, I didnt care. I wanted a littl

Trey Songz Trigga Album Review

The 6 th Trey Songz album may be his best yet. Its just a nold holds barred, blast to listen to. The guests spots work really well. Justin Bieber drops in for a remix of Foreign. I cant really decide which song I like better that or the original. The 2 nd half has more ballads than club songs, but it all balances out nicely. With this album its obvious that Trey is the #1 male R&B artist right now in mid 2014. He’s incredibly consistent. This album kind of comes across like a conglomeration of his last 3 albums…which is a good thing. Ah so whats my final score? A solid 9.5/10

50 Cent Animal Ambition Review

I’m a big 50 Cent fan, so naturally this album was a dispointment. It doesn’t even feel like a comeback album. It just isn’t very creative, which is its biggest problem. 50 Raps with a good amount of energy, and the album does have a nice depth to it. However theres just not much else going for this album. It makes Curtis and Before I self Destruct look like 4 star albums. The guest spots, besides Jadakiss, Trey Songz, and School Boy Q don’t help much either. Overall I give this album 7/10...which isn't too bad.

Kelis Food Album Review

The new Kelis album is a drastic departure from past albums, especially her last album Flesh Tone. This album has a lot of soul…FOOD..lol. The album’s biggest flaw is the production, not Kelis’ singing. The album is a cohesive meal, I liked every song. They each have their own feel, yet they have. I really like Kelis. All of her albums are great, and this one is no different. I give this album an 8.5/10..... Check out my other reviews on this blog. My 2nd opinion would be a 9/10....but yeah I am giving my own 2nd opinion lol
