Album Review: Killer Mike-MIchael

I meant to review this album a long time ago, but never really got to it. This album won a grammy so you know its great. I like this album, but idk I don't love it as much as you'd think. I really enjoyed the Run the Jewels run Killer Mike & El-P were on in the 2010s. "Talk'n That Shit!" is a banger where Killer Mike attacks the beat. "Slummer" feat. Jagged Edge is s a smooth tale of love. The best song here is "Scientists & Engineers" which features Andre 3000, Future, & Eryn Allen Kane. The song is really soulful and smooth. There were some songs I wasn't feeling too much like the last song, "High & Holy". The African talking on that one just seems kinda odd to me.... "Motherless" was a very personal song for Mike.He raps about missing his mother and grandmother. Overall the lyricism is quite a bit better than the beats here, but the album is pretty well rounded. I do feel Killer Mike has been an under...

Album Review: Run the Jewels- RTJ 3

RTJ (Killer Mike & El-P) have returned, and with yet another f***ing great album. This one is the longest, and arguably the best lyrically. The features all work well, especially Trina’s chorus on Panther Like a Panther. Danny Brown does well too on his feature.  So I mean this album is 3 points away from masterpiece, and that surprises no one. The last 3 rd of the album isn’t as exciting as the first 2/3s but its still greatness. El-P and Killer Mike are great rappers with excellent delivery and flow. The production is great too. RUN THE JEWELS, Live at the garden son… Verdict: 9.7

Album Review: Run the Jewels 2

RTJ 2 is a slight improvement over the incredible RTJ1. Killer Mike & El-P are relentless on the mic again. The album seems to flow together slightly better than the first. There aren’t any big guests, but the spots are well used. The production is similar to the first RTJ, which isn’t a bad thing at all. I liked every song here especially Close Your Eyes, Oh My Darling Don’t’ Cry, and All Due Respect . I feel like it will be tough for this Rap Duo to best this effort.  The verdict is a 9.75/10. It's the album of the year for 2014.
