Chesstown King's Reviews and Thoughts

 I don't like to rush reviews out, but I had to for this one...Sure there are some good songs here....but for the most part its a train wreck! "Welcome to The Carter" is good....so is the LL Cool J inspired "Bells". I found "Sharks" which features Jelly Roll and Big Sean to be decent too. Lyrically tho on this album Wayne really really struggles. "Cotton Candy" has interesting production but its a pretty lazy song. On some songs Wayne just sings with heavy autotune and its truly awful. "Peanuts 2 N Elephant" was actually a highlight....if you don't mind the Elephant noises lol. But yeah there aren't enough songs here to validate this album. I wasn't too crazy about his previous Carter album, but that one had way more heat on it than this. Wayne acted like he didn't care about proving he should of had the super bowl last year and thats disappointing. Is it time for this GOAT to retire?? Signs point to yes. Lyrics 16 B...

The last Lil Wayne cd is pretty good, but as I listened to it; I can’t help but want more. He starts the album out very strong with songs like Mona Lisa which was recorded way back in 2014. I guess that’s the main issue with this album. It sounds somewhat dated. Despite this Lil Wayne’s rapping is very poignant. I love his intensity on earlier tracks. He sounds incredibly focused. I liked most songs here but like Carter 3 and 4 there’s undeniable filler. This is a personal album and maybe the number one album I thought would never be released. Good job Weezy. The 3 rd 2 Chainz album is a rap duo album with Lil Wayne…and its pretty good. Its nothing spectacular however. The subject matter is tired, but I honestly didn’t expect more. 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne have chemistry but most of the songs are kinda stale. I had more fun with 2 Chainz first 2 projects in retrospect. So there u have it folks. Listen if u want to but honestly 2016 has better music to offer than Collegrove. Verdict: 8.2/10

This was really the first album that got me into Lil Wayne. The album has a lot of songs, and for the most part they are exceptional. In retrospect its almost as good as the Carter III and it blows away Carter I. Sure its simplistic, but it works. Songs like Feel Me, I’m a D’boy, Money on My Mind, and my personal favorite, Best Rapper Alive are dope. The beats are the weakest part of the album, and they are a solid 8.5. Now that I think about it I haven’t reviewed Carter I yet lol. This is Weezy F. Baby’s rise to power! The Verdict: 8.9/10

Lil Wayne....Mr. Carter is lackluster now?             Yes, the time has come…for me to blog about Lil Wayne. Of course I don’t think he’s a bad rapper by any means. In fact from 2006 to 2008….. he was one my favorite rappers. I’m going to give you my thoughts on Mr. Carter…             Okay first of all I and most people didn’t think a whole lot of Lil Wayne when he was just coming up on Cash Money Records. When the song Fireman came out, it was official that Lil Wayne was going to be a major rapper in the game. In fact, the Carter II cemented this notion. I gave this album the exact same score as the 1 st IANAHB so   theres no progression. However I feel this album has more quality songs than the 1 st one. Lyrically Weezy has gotten worse. Now all he raps about is sex, drugs, and occasionally skateboarding. I found most of the guest spots to be well used, and well needed. The production is good, and very different from the first album. Sure this album has more good songs than average ones, but I can’t help but feel like he could do better…..I’m just sayin he could do…better(Drake reference hahah). This album still gets an 8.0/10. Tunechi needs to come harder on the Carter V!

Lil wayne ’s 3 rd Carter, had entirely too much hype around it. It isn’t a masterpiece but it is a really good album. Lyrically Wayne ’s flow is creative and he goes hard on most songs. He seems like hes unorganized on Playing with fire though. On Amili he freestyles and murders the beat, and on Mr. Carter he gets 3 verses to try and outshine an average Jay-z. Lolipop is the club hit, along with Got Money. Dr. Carter is Wayne at his lyrical best, along with Shoot me Down. The last song was best trimmed down a bit to maybe 5 mins. Intro : This song has a hot beat, It seems Wayne wanted to structure this album like Carter II….with 3 tracks with the same beat. 8/10 Blunt Blowin: A really addictive song. I love the chorus and the beat is pretty good. “You don’t need a bus pass for me to bust yo a** n****”! 9/10 Megaman: A fast paced song. Megaman is an interesting title. Perhaps Wayne feels the beat is like some of the music in the video game….I don’t really agree. 8.5/10 6 Foot 7 Foot: The successor to AMilli. This song is almost as good as that song. Wayne goes hard on every punchline. Young Gunz’s verse is tight but it’s so fast you almost can’t understand what he’s saying. Overall it’s a dope track. 9.5/10 Nigtmares of the Bottom: This is an interesting style for Weezy. This is a slow song dominated by Piano. The song doesn’t really have a chorus but its decent. 8/10 She Will: This song is catchy but ultimately nothing new from either Lil Wayne or Drake. It’s about a gurl putting it on a...
