New York Giants (Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss)

Lets talk about New York rappers for this post. I feel NYC is the originator of the rap game. I will be sharing my thoughts on Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and Jadakiss. These rappers were very popular during the time period of 2001-2008. But why write this now? Let's get into it son. Ja Rule- Ja was a good rapper. I remember his videos were really well received on 106 and Park back in the day. He had hits like "Holla Holla" "Put It On Me" and "New York"; the latter of which featured Fat Joe and Jadakiss. I consider Ja the original MELODIC rapper. Ya know that Drake is a modern day Melodic rapper. That's right, like Ja popularized this sound that so many rappers use right now. That includes arch nemesis 50 Cent.   Fat Joe - Fat Joe aka Joey Crack was a dope rapper and well he still is. I really like his music for the fact its well...very simplistic yet effective. In a time where rappers were experimenting with lots of different sounds Fat Joe was stick...

Album Review: Fat Joe The Elephant in the Room

This isn’t a bad album, its just a lil disappointing. Fat Joe is a really good rapper, but his lyrics are pretty average here. The beats are good, but many songs’ production leaves a bit to be desired. The singles are great, and My Conscience is a good song. The good outweighs the bad here, but the flaws are too big to be unignored. I Won’t Tell is an awesome song that really stands out like a sore thumb since it’s one of the only odes to the ladies. 300 Brolic is really dope too. I guess this one is just for the super Fat Joe fans. Verdict: 7/10

Album Review: Fat Joe & Remy Ma Plata O Plomo

The long awaited rap duo album is by all means lit. Fat Joe has stepped it up lyrically, but Remy Ma is savage! The album sounds like it could have come out about 10 years ago…and that’s not really a bad thing. It sounds fresh still, even if the some of the songs don’t stand out as well as All The Way Up. Heartbreak featuring The Dream is a nice change of pace. Warning and Cookin are also dope. Overall I don’t feel It’s a classic, but damn do I love it. This duo delivered. Verdict: 9.1

Album Review: Fat Joe All or Nothing

Joey Crack blessed us in 2005 with a dope album. It’s one of my favorites for a few reasons. Fat Joe’s punchlines aren’t bad. The production is pretty stellar and consistent across the album. The album isn’t too deep as far as quality songs go, but its really addictive. It’s basically constructed like most mid 2000s albums: Club bangers, Songs for the ladies, etc. Temptation Pt 2 might be the best Fat Joe song I’ve ever heard. So Much More, Rock Ya Body, and Get it Poppin are also good. My Fofo is a viscious 50 Cent diss. All in all this is a great album that you should check out. Verdict: 8.9/10
