Album Review: Drake- Maid of Honor

Ah the final album of the Drake trilogy. I gotta admit I kinda like this one quite a bit more than Habiti. This one is apparently for the ladies. "Road Trips" has a nice uptempo vibe to it. "Cheetah Print" with Sexyy Red is a lot better than their collaboration on Habiti. In fact it's rather wild lol. Lyrically the album is pretty passable. The production is solid. Not every song is good. I don't know what he was thinking on "Princess". It really sounds bad and it's the last song too. "Which One" with Central Cee is pretty fire. I mean most songs are decent however. You gotta hand it to Drake for making a pretty decent comeback in 2026. I thought he was done after the very popular 2024 beef.  Lyrics 20 Beats 22 Depth 19 Tilt 20 Verdict 81

Doja Cat Albums Worst to Best

Doja Cat has been one of my favorite rapper/singers of the past few years. Let's see which albums are the best from her. 5) Amala (88)- Doja’s first album is honestly pretty damn good. You can tell she was still refining her sound tho on this. The last 3 songs “Juicy”, “Tia Tamera”, and “Mooo” are so good. “Candy” is another banger. The album is really well balanced being pretty much good in all areas but not really great in any tho. Favorite Track: Mooo. 4) Scarlet (90)- Believe it or not, this was an album I was on the fence about getting. I’m glad I got it. This is a rap heavy album but there’s still plenty of singing here and there. “Demons” and “F**k the GIrls” are Doja at her roughest. “Attention” was a great single. “Agora Hills” is a nice cute track. The monster single “Paint the Town Red” is the best track however. This album wa a big departure for her, but for the most part it paid off. Fav. Track Paint the Town Red. 3) Vie (92)- This was Doja returning to her pop roots,...

The Top Ten Rap Albums of All Time List

This is my list. All these albums are relatively 98-100 rated. I do have some personal bias here. If you don't see an album you think should have made the list just comment. Honorable Mentions Nas-Stillmatic Jay Z- Reasonable Doubt The Notorious B.I.G.- Life After Death Raekwon-Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Ice Cube- Amerikka’s Most Wanted Kendrick Lamar- To Pimp A Butterfly  Eminem- The Marshall Mathers LP 2 10) Outkast-Stankonia- This was the album really propelled Outkast to superstardom. Sure it’s a little weird at points but it really is an impressive album from Big Boi and Andre 3000. The production is really solid. I love the first song “Gasoline Dreams”. “Ms. Jackson” is one of those all-time great rap songs. You also have “So Fresh, So Clean” and the super hype “B.O.B.” There some other good songs too like “We Luv Deez Hoez” and “I’ll Call Before I Come”. It feels good to have a dirty south album on this list. Underrated Track Pick: Gasoline Dreams. 9) 2Pac- Me Against the...

Nicki Minaj Albums Ranked

Nicki is the greatest female rapper of all time. My opinion on some of these albums have changed since I reviewed them. Lets get it! 7)Pink Friday Roman Reloaded (80)- Even though this is the lowest rated album it sounded really good in its time. You basically have the first half which is rap heavy, and the second half which is mostly pop….or as I’ve heard “Nicki Gaga” LOL. The first 3 songs “Roman Holiday” , “Come on a Cone”, and “I am Your leader” are really good. I really like “Champion” too, which features Nas, Drake, and Young Jeezy. “Right By My Side” with Chris Brown tho is my favorite. “Starships” is the best of the pop songs.  6) Pink Friday Roman Reloaded The Re-Up (84)-While only at 7 songs this was a good short set of songs. “Up In Flames” Is fire and one of Nicki’s best lyrical showcases. “High School” with Lil Wayne is smooth as hell. “I’m Legit” with Ciara is great, and “The Boys” with Cassie is even better. 5) Pink Friday 2 (89)-I don’t find myself going back to thi...

Album Review: Drake-For All the Dogs

Its hard to express how disappointed I was with this album. Sure there are some highlights. I really enjoyed "First Person Shooter" which features J. Cole. Both rappers really bring the heat. On "Fear of Heights" Drake take obvious shots at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky lol. "8 Am in Charlotte" features Drake at his lyrical best. I really like the ratchedness of "Rich Baby Daddy" which features Sexy Red & SZA. Most of these songs tho are really bad to mediocre tho. Drake doesn't put much effort in lyrically. At least the beats are good tho. Yeah there's just not a lot to go back to on this one. Lyrics 18 Beats 22 Depth 19 Tilt 18 Verdict 77

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s bes...

Album Review: JID-The Forever Story

This review is really late as I've had this album since fall last year. This album didn't blow me away when I first heard it...but since then it's grown on me. JID is a terrific lyricist with many great flows and clever bars. The production is pretty good too. The guest spots are well used which include 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), and Ari Lennox. I liked most of the songs here but not every one was exceptional to me. My favorite songs were "Money", "Surround Sound", "Dance Now", and "Can't Make U Change". Overall tho this is a great album and I need to here more from this talented MC. Album Review: Tyler the Creator-Call Me If You Get Lost

The latest offering from Tyler the Creator is really really good. In fact, I'd say its tied for his best album ever with Flower Boy. It's narrated loosely by DJ Drama you know "Gangsta Grillz" guy. I really like that Tyler went back to mostly rapping on these songs and the bars are pretty damn strong. The production tho, as usal with Tyler projects is the real star of the show. Songs like "Hot Wind Blows" and "Lemonhead" are definite highlights. "Sweet/I Thought You Wanted to Dance" is a near 10 minute track but its amazing. I love the beat there and the female vocals. His Mom has a skit and its pretty funny too. "Juggernaut" is another dope song. Overall its a very deep album with good replay value too. Not every song is stellar but most are. Tyler is really becoming one of the better current school rappers now along with the likes of Logic, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. Lyrics 23 Beats 25 Depth 24 Tilt 23 Verdict 95

Album Review: Megan Thee Stallion-Good News

I was honestly not looking forward to this review....but that doesn't mean its not good. Megan is back with actual official studio album. The subject matter is pretty much the same as the last album I reviewed (Fever). This time however there's a bigger guest list like Beyonce', Young Thug, City Girls, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, SZA, and DaBaby....again. On the first song "Shots Fired" she goes after ex Tory Lanez. Its a good track that samples that Notorious B.I.G. song. The last regular track is dope too. She uses the Eazy-E sample to great effect. She pretty much just raps about sex on most of these songs and I know the fans love it, but it gets old. "Body" is somehow catchy and annoying and the same time. Megan is a good rapper and her beat selection here is better than on Fever. I honestly don't know if she can outdo this tho....I feel Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are better rappers. Overall tho its a good album. Lyrics: 23 Beats: 24 Depth:21 Tilt: 22 Verd...

Album Review: Logic-No Pressure

Logic has released his final album after 10 years in the rap game. For the most part this new album delivers. Logic worked with NoI.D. on his first album Under Pressure and he's back with him here. The production is great and fits his flows well. "Soul Food II" is really lush. It's basically got the same beat as the first one. "Perfect" is another banger, and I honestly wish the song and this album was longer. "Man I Is" is just greatness. "DadBod" feels like an older Eminem song and it's really compelling. I really like "GP4" which stands for Growing Pains II. Ultimately Logic is much more focused lyrically here than he was on the very underwhelming Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.  Logic has been one of my favorite rappers since 2017, so its sad to see him retire, but at least he's going out with a bang. This is easily Logic's 2nd best work imo to Everybody . I might do a track by track review of this. We'll se...

Album Review: Affion Crockett- Watch the Clone

This is a comedy album which makes for an odd review. The album is pretty catchy in addition to being really funny. Affion does plenty impersonationations like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake, 2 Chainz, and even Eminem. The song “Detox” which has an interlude is a stand out. A guy pretends to be Dr. Dre on it too lol. “Passion 4 Fashion” is where Kanye pretends to be Mr. West. “2 Slow” the Drake song is funny af. “Enunciatioin” the 2 Chainz spoof is hilarious. Overall it’s a great album, a little dated yes, but he impersonates so many rappers and oh yeah, Chris Brown. Give this one a listen. Verdict: 86 Lyrics 21 Beats 19 Depth 23 Tilt 23

Album Review: Travis Scott-Astroworld

This review is kinda late but I saw no rush to get it out lol. Travis Scott's 3rd solo album is pretty good. The beats are vibrant and the hooks are catchy. He doesn't really have any great themes in his music beyond the usual rapper tropes. His lyrics are very average. There are some good features on here like Drake, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage. Ultimately the album is good but it gets kinda repetitive as you go down it. All in all it doesn't really get better than "Sicko Mode" and "R.I.P. Screw". "Stop Trying to be God" is entirely too long but I guess its decent song. I kinda like Travis Scott and I think this might be his best album yet. Lyrics: 19 Beats: 24 Depth: 22 Tilt: 22 Verdict: 87
