Album Review: Lil Wayne-Carter V

The last Lil Wayne cd is pretty good, but as I listened to it; I can’t help but want more. He starts the album out very strong with songs like Mona Lisa which was recorded way back in 2014. I guess that’s the main issue with this album. It sounds somewhat dated. Despite this Lil Wayne’s rapping is very poignant. I love his intensity on earlier tracks. He sounds incredibly focused. I liked most songs here but like Carter 3 and 4 there’s undeniable filler. This is a personal album and maybe the number one album I thought would never be released. Good job Weezy. Lyrics: 23 Beats: 23 Depth: 22 Tilt: 21 Verdict: 89

Music Review: Rihanna-Music of the Sun

Rihanna's debut album is really nice. It's a diffrent Rih Rih than i'm used to. She sings over very playful beats which make songs about classy love. Ya know what would be considered old school now. The song "Willing to Wait" is really nice about a love blossoming. While "The Last Time" and "You Don't Love Me (No No No)" are about a love that is not doing too well. "Music of the Sun" Might be my favorite tho. Its really smooth. "Let Me" is pretty uptempo and works to Rihanna's advantage.  Overall I feel this is a great debut album for her. Its really fun to listen to. Lyrics: 21 Beats: 23 Depth: 24 Tilt: 23 Verdict: 91

Album Review: Mariah Carey-Caution

Mariah Carey's latest album is very good. I've come to expect as much from her in these days. She is a songstress supreme. At this point Mariah knows what works for her and what doesnt. After 2 lengthy (Albeit Great) albums she hits us with this 10 track album. It starts out really rough with "GTFO" but things get smoother after that. "8th Grade" is the best song without a doubt. I love how MC's voice just seems to blend in with these colorful yet not too demanding beats.I liked basically every song here. I gotta say it's good to see MC continue to succeed....that's 3 albums i've given over 9 to in a row now! Lyrics: 24 Beats: 22 Depth: 25 Tilt: 23 Verdict: 94

Album Review: Logic- Young Sinatra IV

Logic continues to impress me with YSIV or Young Sinatra 4. This is Logic's "Boom Bap Rap" sound and holy s*** does it sound greaet. The beats sound very fresh and organic. He really seems to be very much into his position as a rap great on this album. I can see why. I have loved all of Logic's albums that I've heard. His lyrical dexterity is really impressive albeit not perfect. I liked every song and the album has great replay ability too. Logic compares himself to the great Kanye West...he's kinda like the new Kanye West too. I can see the similarities. So we know Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole are leaders of the new school....but right beside them, you gotta name Logic! Lyrics: 24 Beats: 22 Depth: 25 Tilt: 25 Verdict: 96

Movie Review: Black Panther

My apologies for the lateness of this review. This movie is literally tied with Avengers 3 for the best Marvel movie. That should say a lot considering the magnitude of Avengers 3. Black Panther follows T’Challa the prince who becomes a king. This movie is remarkably similar to the Lion King. How well let me break down  what I liked and didn’t. Then I’ll give it a score at the end. I really liked the way the movie progresses. After all you have an introduction to black panthers powers in a cool way with the rescue mission at night. The thing about this about this movie is it’s incredibly relevant to black culture. After all Wakanda is a city in Africa with incredibly advanced technology. Remarkably the nation appears to be a 3rd world country. The movie has a great story in which Black panther goes on a mission to capture Ulysses Claw or just Claw who has robbed Wakanda in the past. The movie has a very exciting car chase scene in which Claw is captured. Then Killmonger’s crew resc

Rihanna - American Oxygen

Rihanna has made a very powerful video here. She's portraying issues of America in it's past and present. It' a wonderful video. The imagery of Protest and Police brutality is most poignant.

Rihanna - Sledgehammer (From The Motion Picture "Star Trek Beyond")

I really like this video. Rihanna is embracing the Star Trek culture here. The video is flashy and interesting. I love the part when she rises and the stones and dust goes up with her.

Is Nas the GOAT, Rap Debate Court Room

Welcome back to the Rap debate Courtroom. Today's case we examine if Nas could be the GOAT. I will let the prosecution go first then the defense Prosecution: We think Nas is not the GOAT. He isn't very commercially succesful and we feel he's basically a borderline boring rapper. We feel Nas raps the same way almost all the time..... Prosecution rests.... OKay and now the defense may take the stand. It seems that everyone wants to diss Nas' lack of commercial success. We feel that is due to he raps about very relevant issues and he does it in a way that is always dope. When was the last time you heard a Nas rap and was like "meh". We feel Nas is an incredibly potent lyricist and hes also got a great discography. From albums like Illmatic to Stillmatic. Nas is the man.... Wow the defense was very strong....

Eminem GOAT case (Rap Debate Courtroom)

Now in today’s case we will be discussing if Eminem is the greatest rapper of all time. I’d like to hear the case for Eminem first...then the case against him. The Defense would like to thank you for your time. Eminem aka Marshall Bruce Mathers is the GOAT. He basically changed the way rap is perceived in the 2000s. He churned out hit after hit from basically every album he's ever put out. His albums have sold a lot too. Basically he is now the HIGHEST SELLING RAPPER of all time; passing the legendary 2pac Shakur. He is also an extremely potent lyricist. Judge: that was an impressive case for GOAT. Prosecution you're up next. Yes we feel Eminem is too personal in his rhymes like all he knows how to rap about is...himself. Also he might be racist agaisnt black women...the defense rests your honor.....

The Internet: Positive and Negative Effects on life

I feel the internet has really changed the world and honestly I'm not writing this to convince you of otherwise. The internet has affected the world both positively and negatively. Lets talk some positives first. There are many ways the internet has affected our lives positively. I would say that alot of things we take for granted really are all due to the internet. Remember back in the day when it took a long time to start up the internet on things like AOL? If you're like me its a distant memory. It used to take like several minutes just to connect. This was before people had wifi. Things like checking your email or browsing your favorite sites are all possible due the internet. Also the internet is used in everyday things like TVs and Phones; items that really had no internet connectivity not too long ago. These things keep us up to date and connected with our ever changing world. The internet can also be used negatively. I feel like we are so used to this aspect of

New York Giants (Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss)

Lets talk about New York rappers for this post. I feel NYC is the originator of the rap game. I will be sharing my thoughts on Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and Jadakiss. These rappers were very popular during the time period of 2001-2008. But why write this now? Let's get into it son. Ja Rule- Ja was a good rapper. I remember his videos were really well received on 106 and Park back in the day. He had hits like "Holla Holla" "Put It On Me" and "New York"; the latter of which featured Fat Joe and Jadakiss. I consider Ja the original MELODIC rapper. Ya know that Drake is a modern day Melodic rapper. That's right, like Ja popularized this sound that so many rappers use right now. That includes arch nemesis 50 Cent.   Fat Joe - Fat Joe aka Joey Crack was a dope rapper and well he still is. I really like his music for the fact its well...very simplistic yet effective. In a time where rappers were experimenting with lots of different sounds Fat Joe was stick

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco-Food & Liquor

The Chai town MC has come out the box, spitting as well as just about anyone to touch a mic. His breath control is terrific…Lupe is a rhythmic rapper, who doesn’t really have punchlines. The beats he is given are good too. The album has great depth, and rewards multiple listens. I feel the album is well constructed. Songs like IG and KP1 & 2 are terrific. The album is one of hip hop’s best. Overall Rating 98 ( A Winning Combination) Lyrics 25 Beats 23 Depth 25 Tilt 25 This album is far better than I gave it credit for. Lupe is a lyrical dynamo and it shows on every song. I think he was WAY AHEAD of his time. From get jump he’s been a great rapper and now in 2019 I’m wondering is he the best lyricist ever.

Album Review: Ludacris-Battle of the Sexes

A concept album that wasn’t executed that well. The beats are good, the lyrics are good, but not up to typical luda standards. And the depth is fine too. Where the album fails is the songs aren’t all that interesting, and most of them don’t meaure up to the excellent How Low, or MCB with Nick Minaj, or MCB remix. Sexting is a hilarious track and a good treat at the end of this uneven album. This album is a little better than I remember. Maybe that’s just due to most 2015s and on rap being…..sub par. IDK. The album concept was weak but there are some serious hits here. Not bad Luda and Shawna! Overall Rating 75 (Who won…the ladies won) Lyrics 19 Beats 19 Depth 20 Tilt 17

Album Review: Drake Scorpion

Alas I’ve finally finished listening to Drake’s Scorpion album. It was really good but perhaps too much of a good thing can be bad. I love how Drake balanced his singing with his rapping. There’s great use of samples but we needed more guest features here. Jay Z and Michael Jackson are terrific names but I wanted more here. I think the album is pretty good but it looks like Drake needs a much needed artistic break. All in all Drake might go down as the definitive Pop rapper of all time. Lyrics: 23 Beats: 23 Depth: 20 Tilt: 22 Verdict: 8.8

My Interview with Rapper Errion Ali

I had the opportunity to interview an up and coming rapper,  Errion Ali. 1)      So where are you from? I’m from Cleavland Ohio also known Theivland O’dro. Specifically uptown Cleavland, Kinsmen the 40s. 2)      What do you do for money besides rapping? I’m an artist and I’m an activist. So basically what I do is distribute music, profit off ticket sales, and I sell merchandise. I’m also and activist so I benefit off of community meetings, raising donations and etc. 3)      How long have you been rapping? I been rapping since 1998. I released my first solo project December 9, 2005. It was called Society’s Filth. 4)      Who are 3 of your biggest influences as a rapper? (1) Well the first one they tried to write out of history is my big brother B.A.N.G.O. Essentially he passed away in 1998. Which was the first time I wrote my first poems. I was in the 3 rd grade. He met a untimely demise at 21 years old. The way the game works is they will try to write you of histor

Album Review: Arianna Grande-Sweetener

I gotta admit that this album from Ariana is incredibly good. The album is very cohesive and glossy. Songs like "breathin", "blazed" and "sweetner" are well, very sweet. She's very much a force on this album here. I think the album makes statements of female empowerment like on songs like "the light is coming". She named a song after now ex "Pete Davidson" which I find very interesting. My favorite song is "God is a Woman" a provocative yet powerful song. The album has amazing production too. I really like the direction that Ariana is taking with her music. I guess her musical talents are Grande indeed! Lyrics: 24 Beats: 25 Depth: 25 Tilt: 24 Verdict: 98/100

Rihanna's Top Songs

Rihanna Top 10 Songs 1.         Only Girl in the World -This song is really really dope. I love how the beat sounds kinda mischevious, kinda naughty. I love her explosive vocals on this track. This song is RihRih at her best. 2.        Umbrella -Her breakout song is really dope. Jay Z comes in with a killer verse to start it off. She sings of not just love but actually being your lover’s friend also. I feel that’s an important virtue. 3.        Kiss It Better - I really love this song. It’s very majestic and smooth. Rihanna sings with hope and savageness all at the same time. I absolutely love the chorus. “Kiss it Kiss it better baby!” 4.        S&M - This song just screams bad girlness and naughtiness. Its actually about ….(wait for it) bondage sex. Rihanna is in full sexy mode by the last verse. I have played this song more than any other Rihanna song. 5.        Diamonds -I love Diamonds because Rihanna sings of a love that has already blossomed but now is full

A Chronicles (MID) Duel Breakdown

Tekrin Lavisco vs. Bobbi Kirilenko             This was a duel between two very powerful Order focusers. Kirilenko was trying to steal the Oasiasis. Young Isaiah was hit by a comet shot. Before he could get to it Tekrin confronted him. The duel started with advanced focus techniques. It then went to a swordsmanship. This is when Kirilenko backed out of the duel. This would end the battle at the Stari’s temple. B.C: An extremely important duel. The duel was Tekrin’s to win. He was a better swordsman and had more focus ability than his former friend. Bobbi however did the best thing by engaging Tekrin in a sword fight. Tekrin hadn’t dueled in a while but even at his old age he was a handful for Bobbi. Ultimately if Tekrin hadn’t been there Bobbi might have gotten the Oasiasis for the Cometra.

Album Review: T.I.- Dime Trap

T.I.'s latest album is a work of art. Its not really anything new but the King of the South has found a way to further express his sound. Theres so many bangers like "More and More" and "Jefe". Then theres songs like "The Amazing Mr. F*** Up" and "At Least I Know" are really thoughtful street smart songs. I really like “Big Ol Drip” too. It’s pretty obvious that hes been through a lot  in life:like going to jail and taking on Trump.Life experiences generally make for the best albums .This album is far more impressive than I expected...which proves to me that T.I. aka TIP Harris is indeed the best dirty south rapper of all time.
