Album Review: Wiz Khalifa Khalifa

Verdict: 7.5/10 Oh ok it’s another Wiz Khalifa album. I’m not a huge fan of this guy. The beats are good and not all trap beats either. I mean Wiz has never been( or probably will never be) a great rapper, but his last 2 albums were pretty good. Lit and Bake Sale are great songs. The song with his son Sebastian is ok…I guess. The album just sounds really average. However this isn’t a bad album, it’s just shallow.

Album Review: Dr. Dre The Chronic

Dr. Dre’s first album is a classic. The production is genre defining. The smooth and dangerous sounding beats by the Dr. are incredible. The guests are pretty good also, but Snoop shines on every song he’s on. Dr. Dre holds his own lyrically too. The album opens with the excellent F*** Wit Dre Day which takes shots at Eazy-E. Let Me Ride is another banger. The last song is also really good. Dr. Dre makes only hot albums man! West-side! 9.8/10 this is a dope album

Album Review: Machine Gun Kelly-General Admission

8.4/10 MGK returns with his 2 nd album…. It’s not really as good as his first, but its still a good album. The best songs are Till I Die, which is an ode to Cleveland, and Bad Mother F*cker featuring Kid Rock. The album isn’t bad but it seems like on most songs MGK isn’t really bringing much variety lyrically. The beats are really good, and despite my gripes most of the songs are good. I didn’t expect a classic, so this is a good album.

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blank Face LP

Schoolboy Q has finally made a terrific album. It’s a truly eclectic album; much more so than Oxymoron. Lyrically SBQ drops great lines all over the album. There are various guests such as Kanye West, Jadakiss, E-40, SZA, Andersson.Paak, Vince Staples and Miguel. The production is lush and dark all at the same time. The album has incredible depth as I enjoyed basically every song. He’s dropped one of the best albums of 2016 easily. The Verdict: 9.5/10 UHHHHH!

Album Review: Big Sean & Jhene Aiko-Twenty88

Big Sean and Jhene Aiko have joined forces again, and this time for a short album! Its pretty good for the most part. I have called it an R&B album despite being rap too. The hooks are good, as the two execute many relationship themed songs. The beats are sultry too.2 Minute Warning with KC & Jojo is a highlight. Selfish is another banger. Well there’s only 8 tracks which seems to be just enough. It’s a good listen. The Verdict: 8.7/10

Album Review:The Game Street's of Compton

The Game has returned after dropping 2 classic albums on us in 2015. This album isn’t bad by any stretch, but its kinda disappointing in every aspect. Lyrically, Beat wise, depth wise…etc. My expectations weren’t too high, but Game is just filling up space with this one. There are some good songs though like Can’t Wait, Support Compton, and Gang Signs. This is good enough to hold me over for his next project I suppose. The Verdict: 8.5/10

Album Review: YG Still Brazy

The Verdict: 9.4/10 YG is back with a better sophomore effort. The album doesn’t have those (mostly) unnecessary skits like its predecessor. Lyrically YG has better delivery here as well. He doesn’t fumble some of his words like he did sometimes on MKL. The beats are straight from the G-Funk era. Dr. Dre would be proud lol. There’s some serious depth here as well. Notable guests include Lil Wayne and Drake, both artists who supported him last time out. Overall this is one of the better albums to come out this year.

Album Review: Yo Gotti The Art of Hustle

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Yo Gotti here, but this is a decent album. The guest spots include K. Michelle, Nicki Minaj, Pusha T,Future, and Lil Wayne. Down in the DM is the Instagram anthem lol. There are other highlights here too like Bible and Law. Yo Gotti isn’t a great rapper, but he’s not a bad one either. This album is worth your time, but its nothing spectacular. The Verdict: 8.5/10 well done suh.
