Rapper Breakdown: Game

Rapper-Game (The Game)

Date-Early 2013

“The West Coast Messiah”

The Documentary

2005

Top Songs: Dreams, Hate it or Love it, How We Do, Higher, We Ain’t

Album Score: Beats-4.7 , Lyrics-4 = 4.35

Rapper Stats: Flow-84, Versatility-86, Relevancy-90, Critical Acclaim-72

Rapper Rating: 83

Comments- This was one of the best debut albums a rapper has had. Game came out strong backed by Dr. Dre & 50 Cent, and a plethora of varied beats. His flow was good at this point, but there was room for improvement.

Doctor’s Advocate

2006

Top Songs- Let’s Ride, Too Much, Wouldn’t Get Far, Doctor’s Advocate

Album Sore: Beats-4.1 , Lyrics-4.2= 4.15

R S: F-87 , V-85 , R-88 , CA-72

R R: 83

C: The D.A. was a really good album, especially considering that Game didn’t have any help from Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. Regardless of that he came out spitting hard. I feel that its better than his first album in some ways but overall it seemed like this was the best Game could do given he was dismissed from G-Unit/Aftermath.

2007-Non Album Year

Rapper Rating -3= 80

C: Game wasn’t all that relevant in 07…..

L.A.X.

2008

Top Songs: Money, Game’s Pain, State of Emergency, Dope Boys, Letter to the King

Album Score: Beats-4 , Lyrics-4.6 = 4.3

R S: F-91, V-89, R-86 , CA-65

R R: 82.75

C: LAX was a good album for Game. It was slightly better than Doctor’s Advocate despite not having the production of that album. LAX is a varied album that showcases Game’s improved flow. The critics thought the album was average. Game namedrops a lot here…like more than usual. He also has a lot of guest spots on here.

2009-2010

R R: -5= 77.75

C: Game was almost a non factor in hip hop during these two years.

The Red Album

2011

Top Songs-Speaker’s on Blast, The City, Pot of Gold, Ricky, Paramedics

Album Rating: Beats-3.7 , Lyrics-4.8= 4.25

Rapper Score: F-94 , V-90 , R-89 ,CA-61

Rapper Rating: 83.5

C: I feel this is one of the better lyrical performances by any rapper. Red Album is full of guest features and cohesiveness. The critics weren’t really feeling this album all that much, but it was in my opinion the best rap album of 2011. Game really varied his flow on this one.

Jesus Piece

2012

Top Songs- (Debatable)

Album Rating: Beats- 4, Lyrics-4.1= 4.05

R S: F-90, V-83, R-90, CA-66

R R: 82.25

C: I think Jesus Piece is a decent album, but Game doesn’t seem to be as focused as he was on the previous album. He’s got a lot of guests, and they help him out, but this album just feels like he just wanted to get it out of the way. Regardless there are some really catchy songs here like Celebration with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

Overall Album Score: 4.22

Non Album Year(s) Overall Score: 79

Rapper’s Overall Rating: 82.3

Final Rapper Comments: Game is one of my favorite rappers. His scores on his albums are pretty consistent. I look forward to the next album by the messiah of gangsta rap.

My Top Rappers of All Time List

30) Rick Ross (7.7) Essential Album: Teflon Don Starting off the list is Ricky Rossay. Ross has great delivery and a lot of good albums. He scores really high in the versatility category. Ross’s pen game has definitely gotten better from when he debuted in 2006 with Port of Miami. Ross’s biggest flaws were his storytelling and impact. Otherwise solid MC.     29) Young Jeezy (7.8) Essential Album: The Recession Another dirty south MC. Jeezy is one of my favorite rappers. He has a lot of good albums with no real duds. He does have the best ad libs in the game. His collaboration and versatility are high. He really brings the heat on his features. Storytelling and Impact weren’t that high but hey; hes tied with the next rapper.   28) Nicki Minaj (7.8) EA: The Pinkprint Arguably the most dominant female rapper of all time. Nicki really shines when features on others tracks. She usually steals the show like on Kanye West’s “Monster” song. She’s also really versatile; able to sing also and

My Favorite R&B Albums (as 2023 list)

Here are my favorite R&B albums. I'm not gonna do the countdown....I'm just going to list them. The last time I did a list like this was 2013. 1.       Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad- As her best album and the album that made her a star…it’s only right that as my favorite singer Rihanna takes the title. GGGB isn’t a perfect album but I love it. There’s a little something for everyone here. The smooth “Lemme Get That”, the party anthem “Don’t Stop the Music”, and the jam “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. “Hate that I love You” featuring Ne-Yo is really good too. This album is just always a blast to listen to. 2.       Amerie-In Love & War- When I made this list about 10 years ago, this was the number one album. I love this album so much. I was considering her “Because I Love it” album for this list too, but I don’t really go back to that one that much. This album is just a flamethrower of R&B execution. That first half is great with songs like : “Heard Em All”, “Why R U”, and

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s best tracks on it. There’s “Rollout”, “Move Bitch”, “Area
