My Top Video Games of all time

I've done plenty of music lists, so i think its time to pay homage to my top video games of all time. I'm only going to mention games i've played. So, if a game you like is not up here(which I guarantee a few wont be) let me know. Lets get into it....

1)      The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time- I have praised this game so many times, and it’s all well deserved. Ocarina has great controls and the graphics were nice at the time. I really love the story, and how the game is paced. You do a side quest of some kind, which generally isn’t long, then you go to a dungeon, get an item, use that item to get further in the dungeon, then beat the boss. Ocarina is, the best Zelda, and as of right now I don’t think that’s up for discussion. There are some really good Zelda games though such as Wind Waker, ALTTP(which made my list), and some others.

2)      Final Fantasy X- Final Fantasy X….is the only FF I’ve beaten, and I’ve played FF7, FF3(for the DS), FF12, and FF13. I know that sucks. FFX has one of the best stories I have ever seen, whether video game, movie or book. The game has a nice fighting system that is completely turn based. I like that more than the active fighting of FF12 and 13. Overall I just feel this game deserves to be this high on my list.

3)      God of War 3- I almost made this my #2 game all time, but the ending is kinda lame…kinda. Otherwise this game is perfect. It has a good number of bosses, and the puzzles don’t make you throw the controller like GOW1 & 2…The voice acting, the pacing, the gameplay, all great. You can really tell a lot of work went into this game.

4)      Super Mario 64- This is an iconic game. The first open world 3D Mario. I loved playing this when I was a kid. I tried playing it recently and noticed the controls aren’t that great, and it has camera problems compared to other games. However this game has lots of replay ability. There’s so many stars to get on each stage. The Bowser fights are pretty hard.

5)      Star Fox 64- Star Fox 64 is inspiring for me. It had great voice acting which made me really feel immersed in its stages. It’s a game of skill not  button mashing. The bosses were generally tough, but you could improve your odds of winning with power up’d lasers. Theres even 2 different endings, and alternative routs to get to them.

6)      Metal Gear Solid 4- MGS4 is a terrific story driven game. You actually watch more than you play, but that’s a small complaint. The game is sound in all aspects, except for the horrible multiplayer. This game raised the bar for PS3 games, and every other game of its kind after 2008.

7)      Pokemon Stadium- I almost forgot about this game. It was amazing at the time. I could see every one of the original 151 pokemon fight in glorious 3D. The game was very very hard; it was best to use your own pokemon to beat the cups. The minigames were fun also. I don’t know where the PS3 is, but they need to make it. Of course there are a lot more pokemon these days.

8)      God of War 2- GoW2 was highly anticipated and it lived up to the hype. More abilities, and much more bosses. In fact, it may have had too may boss fights. The worst things about this game is that the other weapons were pretty useless, and it ends in a cliffhanger….

9)      Super Smash Bros.- The original SSB could be higher up, but this is my top 10 so its in good company. I love this game. It’s a great fighter with simple controls, and a great Nintendo roster. It was so much fun to play with other people as well.

10)  Killzone 2- This game is what made me into a FPS lover. I used to play online a lot when it first came out. The graphics were top notch, and it was just a blast to play. The game was very difficult to beat, and there was no offline multiplayer which is just the norm now for FPS games.

11)  Advance Wars 2-  A great strategy game. I did own AW Days of Ruin for the DS, but that game fails to meet the greatness of this GBA game. Lots of options, and tons of fun to play. I kind of wish I still had this game.

12)  God of War- This is an instant classic to me, from the first 15 minutes or so of the game. GoW1 is long and difficult. Its not quite as hard if you know what to do, but those puzzles are tough. The 3 bosses are all pretty fun to fight as well.

13)  Mario Kart DS- There have been some great Mario Kart games, like 64,Wii, 7 and the recent 8. However I feel MKDS is the best. It had a great battle mode, and other great features like boss battles. The definitive Mario Kart is on the DS.

14)  Uncharted 2- A lot can be said about this stellar action/shooter. It got me into the series of Uncharted. It has great gameplay, graphics, and voice acting. While Uncharted 3 has better melee controls, this game is just incredible. There’s nothing here that was revolutionary but it does most everything right.

15)  The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past- I absolutely love this game. Its kind of the Zelda that set the benchmark for those that came later. I like it more than A Link Between Worlds, which is a worthy sequel to this game. I had this for the Gameboy Advance..I did play it on Super Nintendo before.

16)  Pokemon Yellow/Red/Blue- I know these are 3 different games, but bear with me. I love Yellow the most, but I also played the other 2 a lot. It was just so simple, yet so engrossing and addictive. I went through a lot of batteries playing this game. The only thing I didn’t really like was the fact you had to trade to not only get all the pokemon but you also needed to trade certain pokemon to reach their final form.

17)  Super Smash Bros. Brawl-I’m sure this is in a lot of gamers top 10 lists…Its so addictive and a little more complex than its predecessors. Its got lots of great characters, and tons of modes. I look forward to SSB4 on the 3ds and wii U.

18)  Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2- This is easily one of the best FP shooters ever. Its also the game that got me into the COD series. The single player story was great and full of suprises. I used to play the multiplayer for hours on end. It also has really nice controls, which just about every COD after it uses.

19)  Star Wars Battlefront 2- I absolutely love Star Wars. So naturally I love this game. But it’s a really good third person shooter. Its better than SWB1 in just about everyway. The game is very difficult at times, but codes can help with that. The best part is the stage where u battle all the heroes or villains, depending on what side you are on.

20)  Grand Theft Auto San Andreas-  What's not to love about this game. It improved on GTA3 and Vice City in every way. Its really long….i never beat it. I really like the main character CJ, and damn the whole (1st) black character thing just worked out really well. I didn’t like how difficult some of the missions were.

    Nas Albums Worst to Best

    20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe has come back, and with a classic album. He seemed to be back on tracks with Food and Liquor II, but F&L2 wasn’t as fun to listen to as his earlier albums. Even LASERS was more fun. This album however, is very complex and fun to listen to. It’s also incredibly well produced. Lupe proves he’s still a top lyricist in the game. Check out his lyrical showcase on Mural, or storytelling on  Prisoner 1 & 2. He’s got a really long song called Chopper which features a lot of guests but its all good. The last song might be the weakest which features Ab-Soul. No Scratches feat. Nikki Jean is one of my favorite songs here. The interludes are pretty intersing, but ultimately skippable. This album is already up for album of the year, and honestly it will be hard for anyone to match this effort. The verdict... its 10/10 for me. This is a great album
