Eminem's Discography

In honor of Eminem releasing SHady XV album this month, I've decided to give you his albums in order from 2013-1999. Its SHADYYYY!

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 : This is Eminem’s 2nd best album. Its about 100 minutes with the bonus tracks included, but rarely does it let it up. It may be Em at his most complex, as he raps about the same things but in a much different way. The only guest rapper is Kendrick Lamar. There’s a lot of guests though. There’s an ode to his mother Headlights which is a really nice song. Then there’s Rap God where he shows off his lyricism. Berserk is just fun, while Survival and A**hole are also bangers. He doesn’t really diss anyone until Evil Twin where he talks about Sarah Palin among others. He even makes a follow up to his hit song Stan in Bad Guy.

Recovery:  This album features Em at his lyrical best. I’m not sure if he felt he could do better and he needed to step it up, or if he was off the drugs…but this album is really good. For the first time Em raps without all the gimics of the past, which should earn him new fans, but may turn off longtime fans. The album has its great songs, but everything is good; from Cold Wind Blows, to the great Untitled track. My personal favorite is No Love with Lil Wayne. Not Afraid is great too, as Is the high tempo song with Pink. Overall its nice to see Em is reinventing himself and spitting that hot fire.

Relapse Refill: A list of bonus tracks from Relapse. He’s basically the same as he is on that album, but these are some good songs. Buffalo Bill is crazy and disturbing, but the rest of the album is fairly entertaining. Elevator is the best song of the bunch besides Drake’s Forever. Overall it seemed like Em should have put one of these songs on the album. Drop the Bomb on Em is a  good diss track, but feels out of place.

Relapse: After a 5 year hiatus from solo albums, Em returns. This album feels forced, but its good nonetheless. Em is trying too hard to be “Slimshady” instead of just letting it flow like he did on his first album. He basically raps like a serial killer, like on 3 AM, Same Song & Dance, and Stay Wide Awake. The production isn’t bad, but hes rapped on much better. The Dr. Dre beats just aren’t all that….The usual party track We Made You is great, as is the last song Underground, where he attacks everything he can. De Ja Vu and Beatiful are great songs also, but they could have been spaced apart.  Overall it’s a great come back for Em.

Encore: It seems like Em was beginning to run out of things to say after 3 great albums. This one isn’t as interesting as the otheres, even if the production is good. Em said himself later that he was “on drugs” when he made this. Some songs are just plain silly like My 1st song, and Rain Man. Some are really good though, like Mosh, Yellow Brick Road, Just Lose It and A** Like That. Mockingbird is a great song dedicated to his daughter. The album ends on a good note with Encore, but again it just isn’t on the level of the first 3 albums.

The Eminem Show:  An interesting album. It seems he was finally contemplating what to do with his super stardom. That’s evident on the first song, White America, where he really questions his own success. The album has the best production of any Em album to date. There are some really really great songs like Cleanin Out My Closet,Without Me, Sing for the Moment, and Till I Collapse. The latter might as well be called Em at his lyrical best. There’s some filler as in the case with MMLP and not so much with SSLP, but it’s a solid album.

The Marhall Mathers LP: Em’s 2nd album is his best to date overall. Its more of what made SSLP successful but everything is better. Better lyrics, more interesting songs. Stan is a classic, as well as the Real Slimshady, and The Way I Am. Theres some other really good songs like the self titled track and Im Back. The beats are really good, and lyrically Em doesn’t disappoint. Some of the songs are kind of borderline filler. Kim is just disturbing and was best left off the album…its horribly disgusting and disturbing. This is a great album, like the better meal of a really good 2 day dinner.

A+

The SLimshady LP: Em’s debut album is solid in all aspects. The beats are really good but very basic. The subject is crazy…you can see why so many people were hating on him early on. Theres great songs like My Name Is, Guilty Conscience, Just Don’ Give A F***.  Then theres the disturbing 97’ Bonnie & Clyde where he talks with his daughter after murdering her mother(Kim). His jokes and metaphors are really funny to crazy…a great way to start his career with Dr. Dre.

Kanye West 2 Part-Post (Revised Top Songs & Album Ranking)

1.       Gold Digger- To be honest, I didn’t like this song the first time I heard it. The beat is so infectious, and the lyrics are so clever, and that hook. Its his best song to date! He raps about a gold digging chick lol. 2.       All Falls Down- Kanye is extremely introspective on this song. The hook and beat make it great. This is ranked so high because it was the song that really propelled him to superstardom in 2004. 3.       Jesus Walks- A controversial song about Jesus being with those in need. Its just plain awesome. But I wouldn’t expect him to make a JW2 lol. Not in a million years. 4.       Can’t Tell Me Nothing- The best song on Graduation is dope. It’s a dark sounding banger. Kanye drops lyrical gems here. The Jeezy sample and the other sample are pure genius. 5.       Power- The aggressive first single to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy...

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blue Lips

Ok I am a big Schoolboy Q fan. I gotta say I love this album...but believe it or not what kept me from getting it till fall 2024 was that horrendous album artwork lol. I mean damn its gross! Schoolboy has some great flows and lyricism on this album. "Thank god 4 me" is absolute flames. "Blueslides" is another highlight. There's something about the song "first" that is just so catchy to me. "Yern" is also pretty hard man. The guest list is minimal but it works. The production is really good here too. The album isn't quite as good as Blank Face to me but its definitely a major improvement over his last album Crash Talk. Definitely check this one out. Lyrics 24 Beats 23 Depth 23 Tilt 23 Verdict 93

Nas Albums Worst to Best

20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...
