Movie Review: Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon

Now on to the review for Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. This movie came out in 2011. I don’t remember being too hype for it, but the movie delivered. The acting is good. Shia Lebeouf returns but Megan Fox has been replaced (written out lol). Dark of the Moon is a darker film than it’s 2 predecessors…much more so!

This is a long movie; well over 2 hours. The pacing isn’t that great in the first half at all. The 2nd half is action packed however…maybe too packed lol. I absolutely love the long intro. It shows how the space race was in response to a mysterious alien ship crash landing on the moon. The scene ends by going into the eyes of Sentinel Prime, who I will talk about more later.
The movie then shows Sam Witwicky and his new girlfriend…Carley. Basically Sam is going threw it in this film. In Revenge of the Fallen he didn’t want to be a part of the Transformers war. He told Optimus, “You won’t give me a day in college.” In this film he wants to prove he can help. Carley is hot but I don’t like her character as much as Megan Fox’s. She seems too cookie cutter to me. His parents are back albeit they have a smaller role this time. They help take Same on job interviews…
It turns out Optimus and his autobot brethren have been helping Nest to assist in “Human problems while all the while waiting for our true enemies return.” And the Decepticons do indeed return. In Revenge of the Fallen, the Decepticons took a major ass wupping. I’m assuming this movie is about 4 year later. Megatron and company have a cooked up a grand scheme…which involves Sentinel Prime. But they kind of need Optimus Prime’s Matrix to revive Sentinel Prime. I also must note the Transformers start using weapons that aren’t always a part of their bodies. Cool huh? It’s a trend that keeps up in 4&5 too.
The story is really good I must admit, and im not going to all of its details here. Basically Sam gets a job finally at this company that does contracting for NASA….wink wink. He learns that Decepticons are using humans also. He warns the movie’s dick/a-hole character Charlotte. That’s right the a-hole character in this movie is a woman. She basically tells him to f*** off. She says he’s a messenger not a hero. This pisses off Sam and Carley. I found it funny that Charlotte doesn’t like to be called “mam”. It’s hilarious.
The movies first half has some really strong character development. It turns out Carley’s boss, Dylan is the “Point human opp for the decepticons”… which you learn about halfway through the movie. Speaking of that halfway point, it’s really good. You kind of start thinking that there’s 2 prime’s so how could Megatron and company stand a chance? I mean Optimus alone can make mince meat of Megatron…and then you have Sentinel Prime…well Sentinel is the key to the Decepticons plans. He basically defected back in the battle of Cybertron…but he pretended to still be an Autobot. Sentinel is a beast and he kills Ironhide right away and takes the space pillars. The decepticons plan to use the pillars to create a space bridge to bring Cybertron to earth.
Next it’s the movies 2nd half, “Hostile take over time” is dope. Optimus briefly fights Sentinel. And he loses! But Sentinel doesn’t kill Optimus. The Decepticons then take over Chicago….Yeah kinda weird that they’d pick that city. They start killing humans too. Its savage! This ends up not really making much sense though, because they planned on using a human slave labor force to rebuild Cybertron….Before this happens however there is a scene where you think the Autobots have all been killed when they are ordered to leave Earth by the United Nations. It’s an emotional scene….even though you know they couldn’t have been beaten like that.
Sam teams up with former Nest member, Epps and some military guys to rescue Carley who is being held hostage by Dylan in Chicago. The group goes to Chicago to see the carnage. Epps tells Sam “I’m sorry but it’s over.” Sam doesn’t listen and says he will find Carley alone if he has to. The group is attacked by a Decepticon ship…but the ship is shot down by big boi himself, Optimus Prime, who says, “We will kill them all.” It turns out the Autobots were never in their ship when it was blown up by StarScream.
There is an awful lot of action after that point. The scene is really just one big ass scene really. It lasts like 40-45 minutes. It’s not boring and its well paced. Eventually humans send reinforcements to Chicago…Optimus fights and kills this powerful Decepticon named Shockwave who rides this giant worm like vehicle. Sam does end up rescuing Carley early on after they get to Chicago. He also kills StarScream with a prototype bomb an autobot gave him. It’s a funny scene and I was happy to see that annoying Decepticon die.
Eventually Optimus gets his rematch against Sentinel Prime. Sentinel is just a f***ing beast of a fighter. I don’t think Optimus was holding back either…Sentinel uses his shield to block Optimus’ sword and axe and counter with his own sword. I have to assume Sentinel was stronger than the Fallen character from the last movie. While the battle is unfolding Megatron is just sitting there looking at Cyberton. Carley walks up to him and says he’s nothing more than “Sentinel’s bitch”. Megatron acts like he’s going to attack her but then I guess he realizes it’s true so he goes on the offensive against Sentinel.

Sentinel is about to kill Optimus but before he can deliver the final blow, Megatron fires on Sentinel with his gun. Megatron says, “THIS IS MY PLANET” as he knocks off Sentinel’s helmet. It seems Megatron is the king of the cheap shots! Megatron then says, “We need a truce, all I want is to be back in charge. Besides who would you be without me Prime?”. After that Optimus says, “Time to find out..” and he absolutely wrecks Megatron. He literally takes his axe and rips Megtron’s spine out through his head…oh my f***ing god! Lol. Optimus then makes short work of the traitor Sentinel Prime who can’t defend himself.
By then the battle is over. The decepticons are pretty much done…or are they? Same reunites with Carely. Bumblebee(who I am just now mentioning lol) suggests the two get married by dropping rings and singing the here comes the bride song. Optimus says that there will be calms between storms but the day will never come that they forsake the earth.
Overall, I feel this is a great movie. I feel it could have been better if Sam’s parts of him looking for a job etc were cut down. There’s a lot going on in this movie. I guess it begs the question what if this had been a 3rd and final Transformers movie? Well im glad they made more as Age of Extinction was good and The Last Knight was even better!

Verdict: 8.8/10

Nas Albums Worst to Best

20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe has come back, and with a classic album. He seemed to be back on tracks with Food and Liquor II, but F&L2 wasn’t as fun to listen to as his earlier albums. Even LASERS was more fun. This album however, is very complex and fun to listen to. It’s also incredibly well produced. Lupe proves he’s still a top lyricist in the game. Check out his lyrical showcase on Mural, or storytelling on  Prisoner 1 & 2. He’s got a really long song called Chopper which features a lot of guests but its all good. The last song might be the weakest which features Ab-Soul. No Scratches feat. Nikki Jean is one of my favorite songs here. The interludes are pretty intersing, but ultimately skippable. This album is already up for album of the year, and honestly it will be hard for anyone to match this effort. The verdict... its 10/10 for me. This is a great album
