From Worst to Best: J. Cole

4.Cole World: The Sideline Story (88)-This is a strong debut album, but in Cole’s discography its actually quite weak. The production is the major culprit. “God’s Gift” and “Rise and Shine” are great non singles.  I love “Work Out”. The guest spots aren’t really used that well except for Trey Songz and Jay-Z. I found the Drake assisted song to be boring as is “Breakdown”. However I do like this album, but his 2013 Born Sinner was soooo much better. Top Tracks: Dollar and  Dream III, Can’t Get Enough, Cole World, Rise and Shine, Work Out.

3.4 Your Eyez Only (96)-Cole’s third offering is not his best but its really solid. The album gets off to an incredibly strong start. The first 4 tracks are fire. “Déjà vu” is really dope as is “Immortal”.  “She’s Mine” 1 and 2 are kinda boring, but meaningful. The album is more of the same as 2014FHD but it’s a tad below it. The lyrics are powerful and the beats are subtly great. I’m not sure what we can expect from him next.  Top Tracks: Déjà vu, Immortal, Neighbors, Ville Mentality.

2.Born Sinner (96)-Confession, this is THE album that made me a J. Cole fan. Its so much better than Cole World it aint even funny. The production is better and the lyrics are a lil better too…. “Villuminati” is easily my favorite J. Cole song. There’s not really a poor song here on the regular version. “Miss America” is dope af too. “Power Trip” featuring Miguel is another awesome song. Most of this album has a really cohesive lowkey feel to it too. TT: Trouble, Villuminati, Power Trip, Runaway, Miss America, Ain’t That Some S***.

1.2014 Forest Hills Drive (97)-What could beat Born Sinner? A more introspective album that’s what. This album has it all but its not perfect. There’s a lot more singing, which is mostly hit and not so miss. “St. Tropez” is really smooth. “Apparently” is one of those songs everyone should hear. He destroys the competition on “Fire Squad”. “No More Role Modelz” might be the best song tho. And don’t forget about “G.O.M.D.” Lol. Nuff said..well that last track I don’t bother with, it’s a shout out track and Hello is kinda corny. TT: G.O.M.D., Apparently, Fire Sqauad, St. Tropez, Janauary 28th, No More Role Modelz.

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blue Lips

Ok I am a big Schoolboy Q fan. I gotta say I love this album...but believe it or not what kept me from getting it till fall 2024 was that horrendous album artwork lol. I mean damn its gross! Schoolboy has some great flows and lyricism on this album. "Thank god 4 me" is absolute flames. "Blueslides" is another highlight. There's something about the song "first" that is just so catchy to me. "Yern" is also pretty hard man. The guest list is minimal but it works. The production is really good here too. The album isn't quite as good as Blank Face to me but its definitely a major improvement over his last album Crash Talk. Definitely check this one out. Lyrics 24 Beats 23 Depth 23 Tilt 23 Verdict 93

Video Game Review: Jedi Fallen Order

I meant to review this game way back in the day when I first beat it but this is coming after my 2nd play-through. This time I played the game on hard difficulty and man was it tough. Compared to Jedi Survivor I think the game has a better story. You join Jedi padawan Cal Kestis as he escapes a scrapyard planet Bracca , fleeing from the Empire. Cal comes face to face with an Inquistor called 2nd sister. You end up fighting her a total of 4 times in the game.  The main story is Cal must help a former Jedi named Cere and her pilot Greez to find a Jedi holocron that has a list of force sensitive children to rebuild the Jedi Order. I gotta say the planets you visit are all for the most part pretty flushed out . I found Zeffo to be the main planet and navigating it is truly awful. Well I’m glad they made navigation better in Jedi Survivor. Of all the planets Dathomir (Darth Mauls planet) was by far the worst. There was tough enemies around every corner there and hard boss fights w...

Album Review: Clipse- Let God Sort Em Out

Well I didn't rush this review, I've had some time to sit with this album. It's a hell of a comeback album. Pusha T and Malice are deadly as ever on the mic. The album lyrically is intense. Production is pretty good too but I expected slightly more from an album produced entirely by Pharrell Williams. Speaking of Pharrell, he's all over this album...sometimes not just relegated to a hook. The album gets off to a great start with "The Birds Don't Sing" where both brothers talk about their parents who passed. Pusha T raps about his Mom. Malice about his dad. I really liked the vibe of "All Things Considered"; the The-Dream feature is good. That brings me to the features....like a monster one from Kendrick Lamar on "Chains & Whips". Tyler the Creator does well on "P.O.V.". Nas is on the 2nd last track and he does well too. "M.T.B. T. T. F." is fire, and it stands for Mike Tyson Blow to the Face lol. Ultimately its h...
