Eminem SlimShady LP: IN Depth Review

Opening Opinion: 9.6/10
The Slimshady LP is where Eminem’s career really took off. Technically its not his first body of work…but I don’t really consider Infinite legit. Let’s see how well this album holds up almost 20 years later.
“Public Service Announcement” is  a funny skit. “My Name Is” was my first introduction to Em. It’s a great song. The jokes are funny af. “How you gonna breast feed me mom, you ain’t got no tits”. The beat is awesome too courtesy of Dr. Dre. “Guilty Conscious” features Dr. Dre. Its honestly one of the more creative tracks in slim’s library to date. Dr. Dre plays the good side of the conscious and Eminem plays the bad side. It goes through 3 scenarios.
“Brain Damage” is one of my favorite Eminem songs. Em tells a story of him being in what I’m assuming is a middle school, but of course it’s an exaggerated tale lol. “Way before my baby daughter Hailey, I was harassed daily by this fat kid named D’angelo Bailey.” “Paul” is a short skit. He tells Eminem to tone it down lol. No chance of that. “If I Had” is melo, but good. Eminem raps about what he wants albeit he wasn’t famous yet. You gotta feel for him here. The female vocals are a nice touch. “If I had one wish, it would be to have a big enough ass for the world to kiss”.
“ ’97 Bonnie & Clyde” is a simple yet great song. Eminem proclaims love for his daughter and kills his wife in the same song lol. Its not as dark as it sounds. This is Eminem we talking about… “Bitch” is stupid skit. I wonder who this was who was talking here….Zoey apparently lol. “Role Model” is a great song. There’s so many great lines here. “I’m dumb enough to walk in a store and steal, so I’m dumb enough to ask for a date with Lauryn Hill.” Not for kids man. Lol.
“Lounge” is the perfect skit for the next song lol. “My Fault” might be my favorite song on the album. He storytells again. He basically gets a girl too high and she apparently passes out or dies….The song is really comical as it goes on tho. That beat is fire too. “Ken Kaniff” is  part of a long running idea Em had. Gay ass Ken Kaniff from Connecticut lol. Its hilarious….its even funnier on the next album lol. “Cum on Everybody” is the party song. Its really good. Dina Rae does a great job on the hook. It’s really funny how similar this song is to “Drug Ballad” on MMLP1. His lyricism continues to impress.
“Rock Bottom” is a sad song, but good. Its similar to “If I Had” but darker. I love the chorus. It’s another song that Em wouldn’t be able to make now cause he’s famous. “Just Don’t Give a Fuck” has a this twisted-crazy beat but it works well. “Slimshady, Brain dead like Jim Brady”. You just gotta love his lyricism and punchlines here. “Soap” is kind of a filler skit, but its by no means skippable.
“As The World Turns” is kind of like “Brain Damage” but far more offensive. Em takes you back to his roots lol. Its just ridiculously funny. The chorus is kinda weak tho. “I’m Shady” is dope af. I love the chorus. “Bad Meets Evil” features Royce Da 5’9. It’s a great song. So great it took another 11 years to make an album with Royce. The song has a good beat. Great rap villains indeed. “Still Don’t Give a Fuck” is a cold song. Em addresses the critics and naysayers here early on. His punchlines are so good here. “I don’t rap to get the women, Fuck Bitches, Gimme a fat slut that cooks and does dishes.”
Slimshady LP is arguably just as creative as MMLP1 but its singles aren’t as strong. Great great album tho. He hit the ground 8 miles and runnin.

Closing Opinion: No Change.

My Top Rappers of All Time List

30) Rick Ross (7.7) Essential Album: Teflon Don Starting off the list is Ricky Rossay. Ross has great delivery and a lot of good albums. He scores really high in the versatility category. Ross’s pen game has definitely gotten better from when he debuted in 2006 with Port of Miami. Ross’s biggest flaws were his storytelling and impact. Otherwise solid MC.     29) Young Jeezy (7.8) Essential Album: The Recession Another dirty south MC. Jeezy is one of my favorite rappers. He has a lot of good albums with no real duds. He does have the best ad libs in the game. His collaboration and versatility are high. He really brings the heat on his features. Storytelling and Impact weren’t that high but hey; hes tied with the next rapper.   28) Nicki Minaj (7.8) EA: The Pinkprint Arguably the most dominant female rapper of all time. Nicki really shines when features on others tracks. She usually steals the show like on Kanye West’s “Monster” song. She’s also really versatile; able to sing also and

My Favorite R&B Albums (as 2023 list)

Here are my favorite R&B albums. I'm not gonna do the countdown....I'm just going to list them. The last time I did a list like this was 2013. 1.       Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad- As her best album and the album that made her a star…it’s only right that as my favorite singer Rihanna takes the title. GGGB isn’t a perfect album but I love it. There’s a little something for everyone here. The smooth “Lemme Get That”, the party anthem “Don’t Stop the Music”, and the jam “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. “Hate that I love You” featuring Ne-Yo is really good too. This album is just always a blast to listen to. 2.       Amerie-In Love & War- When I made this list about 10 years ago, this was the number one album. I love this album so much. I was considering her “Because I Love it” album for this list too, but I don’t really go back to that one that much. This album is just a flamethrower of R&B execution. That first half is great with songs like : “Heard Em All”, “Why R U”, and

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s best tracks on it. There’s “Rollout”, “Move Bitch”, “Area
