Movie Review: Transformers 5 The Last Knight

Transformers The Last Knight Review

Transformers 5 had an odd whole to fill. Age of Extinction was arguably the worst movie by far. (But still good) Last Knight is just as long I think and features tons of locations and of course special effects. Mark Walberg returns for a main human role, as Craig Yaeger, but heā€™s far more important to the story this time.

Iā€™m not going to go through all the details of this movie. That would be honestly be very difficult. The movie has so many different story locations and a lot happens. Basically, its further into the future and the TRF rules much of the world. Transformers are still outlaws which I donā€™t understand. Optimus Prime left to find his creator(s) at the end of Age of Extinction, so heā€™s not around.

Basically what I donā€™t like about this movie is the fact that it ignores so  much of all of its predecessors plot points. For example; Megatron is backā€¦Iā€™m pretty sure he was rebuilt as Galvatron in the 4th movie. Also the whole thing about Transformers i.e. Bumble Bee being here in World War II is just silly.

The plot is simple. Cybertron has been kinda of rebuilt by Quintessa the prime of life. She is really really powerful. And upon meeting Optimus Prime she reprograms him and turns him into the evil Nemesis Prime. The movie started with this really kinda of unnecessary midevil times battle scene. Merlin gets a staff from a guardian knight transformer. He uses it to command the other guardian knights...which turn into a giant dragon. The movieā€™s pacing is good but the characters it establishes like Izabella (with a Z) are just useless.

We also have Anthony Hopkins playing this old guy who is a WItwickensā€¦.( a relative of Sam Witwicky). Thereā€™s also Miriam who is the descendant of Merlin and the only one who can wield the staff. Cybertron is basically coming to earth to suck the energy right out of it....but only the staff of Merlin (which is Quintessaā€™s staff) can trigger the process.

Spoiler alertā€¦.Craig Yaeger is the LAST KNIGHT. I know that sounds stupid af. But it works here. The action is heavy albeit kinda presented in a weird disorientating way. The fights are quick too and not as good as past movies. Megatron for example, gets wupped by Optimus again after almost killing him. Quintessa is double teamed by Optimus and Bumble Bee. I felt she was defeated too easily. But sheā€™ll be in the next oneā€¦.

I really liked Cogsworth, which is the small transformer butler to the Witwikens. The transformers themselves the autoboots are cool, but I felt they didnā€™t get enough screen time. The decepticons seem far more interesting. There are some new ones like a ghetto talking one, and one that turns into a giant transformer. The giant one gets killed by a newly heroic Optimus in an epic scene.

The movieā€™s dialogue is really good. I felt the lines were interesting and poignant. The black guy in the movie is pretty much just comic relief. He takes a fake bullet for Craigā€™s character and thinks he is dying. I love the fact that he says that his ā€œjobā€ doesnā€™t have health insurance. He also says, ā€œI cant go to jail, I canā€™t even lift weights!ā€ Agent Simmons returns here as well, but his character has almost no value. The female human character Miriam is decent but she falls woefully short of Megan Fox from TF1 & 2. Despite being far more central to the movies plot. Officer Lenox from Transformers 1-3 returns too working as kind of a double agent. Heā€™s for USA and the transformers but he works with the TRF.

All in all I like this movie. But after the hype has died down its certainly not the best one. However, The Last Knight is a great send off for Michael Bay as the movieā€™s director. Itā€™s a terrific film that could have been a little more thought out but hey its Transformers and this one belongs in the saga. Okay weā€™ve heard some good and some bad time to put a score on itā€¦.

Verdict: 9/10

Album Review: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign-Vultures 1

This album review is way overdue. I've had a long time to sit with the album....I really liked it at first but it hasn't really aged as well as other Kanye projects. Kanye's lyricism has taken a noticeable decline. I mean hes not horrible but alot of these bars are bad or tasteless. Ty Dolla $ign on the other hand does a great job on pretty much every track. The production though, as with most Kanye albums is really good.   Some of it was reminiscent of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Yeezus. There are a few guest spots and most are well used. Hearing Kanye's daughter, North West, on "Talking"is cute. Freddie Gibbs steals the show on the hilarious "Back to Me". "Carnival" is a certified hit which features Playboi Carti & Rich the Kid. Overall most of these songs are good but I cant say this really adds much to Kanye's illustrious discography. Lyrics 19 Beats 23 Depth 22 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Video Game Review: Jedi Survivor

About a week ago or so I beat Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Im so happy I got a chance to play it cause they put it on PS4....yes I sadly as of early 2025 do not have a PS5 yet. But anyways I thought the game was considerable improvement over Jedi Fallen Order in most ways.  The game is set a few years after the end of the first game. One thing I like is you keep all your Jedi techniques from the first game Jedi Fallen Order. You can force push and pull and double jump right from the jump. Early in the game you also get access to a new lighstaber form dual wield. In this game there are 5 lightsaber forms. Single is good in any situation but not the best for ideal situations. I think double bladed has good defense but low range. Dual wield is fast but has low defense. Later on you get access to a blaster form which has great range. Then there's the Cross-guard which is Kylo Ren's lightsaber form...its slow in this game but has high damage and defense to it. The enemy variety in the...
