New York Giants (Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss)

Lets talk about New York rappers for this post. I feel NYC is the originator of the rap game. I will be sharing my thoughts on Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and Jadakiss. These rappers were very popular during the time period of 2001-2008. But why write this now? Let's get into it son.

Ja Rule-Ja was a good rapper. I remember his videos were really well received on 106 and Park back in the day. He had hits like "Holla Holla" "Put It On Me" and "New York"; the latter of which featured Fat Joe and Jadakiss. I consider Ja the original MELODIC rapper. Ya know that Drake is a modern day Melodic rapper. That's right, like Ja popularized this sound that so many rappers use right now. That includes arch nemesis 50 Cent.

Fat Joe - Fat Joe aka Joey Crack was a dope rapper and well he still is. I really like his music for the fact its well...very simplistic yet effective. In a time where rappers were experimenting with lots of different sounds Fat Joe was sticking true to his own sound. He took up the mantle for Ja Rule when it came to beefing with 50 Cent. Some good Fat Joe songs include "What's Luv", "I am Crack", and "So Much More"

Jadakiss- Jadakiss might be the best lyricist out of the bunch. He has a really rough deliver but made some really good albums like "Kiss of Death" and "Top 5 DOA". Jada also has lots of hits but never really hit the level of commerical success of Ja Rule. I really think Jadakiss in particular is far from washed up no disrespect to Fat Joe and Ja. Aint nobody really checking for them like that anymore...accept well....a music nerd like me!Yeah thanks for reading.

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blue Lips

Ok I am a big Schoolboy Q fan. I gotta say I love this album...but believe it or not what kept me from getting it till fall 2024 was that horrendous album artwork lol. I mean damn its gross! Schoolboy has some great flows and lyricism on this album. "Thank god 4 me" is absolute flames. "Blueslides" is another highlight. There's something about the song "first" that is just so catchy to me. "Yern" is also pretty hard man. The guest list is minimal but it works. The production is really good here too. The album isn't quite as good as Blank Face to me but its definitely a major improvement over his last album Crash Talk. Definitely check this one out. Lyrics 24 Beats 23 Depth 23 Tilt 23 Verdict 93

Video Game Review: Jedi Fallen Order

I meant to review this game way back in the day when I first beat it but this is coming after my 2nd play-through. This time I played the game on hard difficulty and man was it tough. Compared to Jedi Survivor I think the game has a better story. You join Jedi padawan Cal Kestis as he escapes a scrapyard planet Bracca , fleeing from the Empire. Cal comes face to face with an Inquistor called 2nd sister. You end up fighting her a total of 4 times in the game.  The main story is Cal must help a former Jedi named Cere and her pilot Greez to find a Jedi holocron that has a list of force sensitive children to rebuild the Jedi Order. I gotta say the planets you visit are all for the most part pretty flushed out . I found Zeffo to be the main planet and navigating it is truly awful. Well I’m glad they made navigation better in Jedi Survivor. Of all the planets Dathomir (Darth Mauls planet) was by far the worst. There was tough enemies around every corner there and hard boss fights w...

Album Review: Clipse- Let God Sort Em Out

Well I didn't rush this review, I've had some time to sit with this album. It's a hell of a comeback album. Pusha T and Malice are deadly as ever on the mic. The album lyrically is intense. Production is pretty good too but I expected slightly more from an album produced entirely by Pharrell Williams. Speaking of Pharrell, he's all over this album...sometimes not just relegated to a hook. The album gets off to a great start with "The Birds Don't Sing" where both brothers talk about their parents who passed. Pusha T raps about his Mom. Malice about his dad. I really liked the vibe of "All Things Considered"; the The-Dream feature is good. That brings me to the features....like a monster one from Kendrick Lamar on "Chains & Whips". Tyler the Creator does well on "P.O.V.". Nas is on the 2nd last track and he does well too. "M.T.B. T. T. F." is fire, and it stands for Mike Tyson Blow to the Face lol. Ultimately its h...
