I finally was able to beat this stellar Zelda game not too long ago. The game is very challenging yet oh so satisfying when you overcome powerful enemies. The game looked great. There was so much variety in the environments. Unfortunately there's not much variation in the music. You usually just here a minimalist piano track as you travel.
I recommend you tackle as many shrines as possible. The puzzles aren't typically too tough but there were a few I had to look online to solve. They are some very creative puzzles to solve. Some puzzles simply test your strength by making you fight a robotic enemy.
Speaking of enemies, this game doesn't have a lot but there are stronger/different versions of them. Of all of them perhaps Guardians and Lynels are to be the most feared. The latter feels like boss battles. Guardians can shoot you to death with lasers but with Ancient arrows you can make short work of them. Of course when you beat an enemy you can take their weapons and shields. To the victor go the spoils.
This game has tons of stuff for you to do, but I decided to "free" the divine beasts. There are 4 of them I really recommend you do the lighting camel one in the desert last. Everything about it is just really challenging including the events you have to do to get to the divine beast. The actual Ganon boss fights are pretty tough but with enough trial and error you'll stand a good chance.
A big aspect of this game is most all your equipment can break on you. I never actually ran out of weapons while fighting...but I have ran out of arrows in a boss fight. Your swords, shields, and bows will break on you. However, you get used to it. The master sword doesn't break but it runs out of energy smh.
I really recommend you face Calamity Ganon after the 4 beasts are done. They (spoiler alert) will attack the final boss and take its health down to halfway. The final boss has tons of attacks but once you learn them he isnt that bad. I found the actual final boss Dark Beast Ganon to be a walk in the park almost. It only has one attack besides trampling you...and its slow.
Overall Link has a lot of abilities in this game and they all are executed very well. The climbing aspect works well as does the paragliding aspect. The combat is really solid as well. I cannot tell you how many times some enemy just one shot killed me tho.
This was definitely a very fresh feeling Zelda game. It was a blast to play and although it didn't have much musical variety there's a ton of stuff to do. The game isn't better than Ocarina of Time but I feel it's better than Link to the Past which says alot.
Verdict: 9.85
