This is Logic's mainstream projects worst to best. I've made some changes to the ranking from my individual reviews. Lets get into it.
8) Confessions of a Dangerous Mind- The worst of Logic’s illustrious discography is CODM. The songs are mostly forgettable and aren’t executed that well. Despite this, its not that bad. There are some bangers here. “Homicide” featuring Eminem is the best no doubt. The album kinda feels rushed or that Logic needed a break which we all know in 2020 that he just took. Top Tracks: Homicide, Icy, Keanu Reeves, Don’t Be Afraid to Be Different.
7) Bobby Tarentino II- The 2nd BT mixtape is pretty damn good, even if it falls considerably short of the first one. There are some bangers here like “Contra” and “Warm It Up”. Some of the guests don’t really do much to help the album unfortunately. Overall tho, its more enjoyable than CODM any day. Top Tracks- Everyday, Warm It Up, Contra, Yuck.
6)The Incredible True Story- This is the album that cemented me as a Logic fan. Its got some of Logic’s best songs on it. It’s not higher up cause it is a little long and the science fiction theme is kinda hit or miss. Despite this Logic’s lyrics are razor sharp and will cut your ears lol. I really like the long song “City of Stars”. Logic sings on it but it works. “Young Jesus” is a definite highlight. TT: Young Jesus, Like Woah, I Am the Greatest, City of Stars, Lord Willin.
5)YSIV- The final Young Sinatra mixtape is really good. I would have had it ranked higher but the 4 above it have had higher replayability to me over the years. The album gets off to good start with songs like “Everybody Dies” and “The Return”. The song “Wu Tang Forever” features the whole Wu Tang clan its dope af. This Boom Bap sounding album really caters to Logic’s stye really well. He spits his ass off on “100 Miles and Runnin” and storytells well on the title track. TT: 100 Miles and Runnin, Wu Tang Forever, Everybody Dies, The Return, YSIV
4) Under Pressure-Ah Under Pressure, Logic’s official debut. It’s really a great album. Logic showcases great lyricism all over the album. This was my introduction to Logic and I really found this album to be a breath of fresh air in an era dominated by mumble rap. “Gang Related” is one of my favorite songs by him period. “Nikki” is a great song too where he raps about drug addiction but flips it. The title track is just tremendous too. Top Tracks: Soul Food, Gang Related, Under Pressure, Nikki, Buried Alive.
3) Bobby Tarentino- What can I say? This mixtape goes really hard. I liked every track here. “Slave” and “Slave II” are similar yet great tracks. “Wrist” featuring Pusha T is a terrific track too. Who could forget the insanely catchy “Super Mario World” . I really like that funny skit too. TT: The Jam, Slave II, Slave, Super Mario World, Wrist, Flexicution.
2) No Pressure- So Logic recently retired and thankfully he went out with a bang. The sequel to Under Pressure is an outstanding rap album. Every song is good to great. What gets me, is it sounds so effortless unlike on CODM which sounded like he had lost a lot of skill and what makes him great. “Perfect” should have been longer but I love it. “Soul Food II” rivals the first and uses the same beat. You know I haven’t talked about production that much but this has some great No ID production! “GP4” is so smooth and a great listen also. What could top this? TT: Hit My Line, GP4, Soul Food II, Perfect, Man I Is, Heard Em Say, DadBod.
1) Everybody-This is Logic’s best album. It just has his fingerprints all over it. Great lyrics, and varied and fresh production. The theme is a little wacky but hey, I like it overall. The suicide awareness song, “1-800-273-8255” is so emotionally charged, it gets me everytime. The album tackles tough issues like race and mental health really well. Songs like “Confess” and “Anziety” are just epic. Of course it doesn’t really get better than “Black Spiderman” an incredibly satisfying track. This might not be everybody’s favorite Logic project but this is the one I enjoy the most. TT: Black Spiderman, Everybody, 1-800-273-8255, Confess, Hallelujah, Anziety.
