Rapper albums

Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101

2005

Top 3-5 Songs: Soul Survivor, Go Crazy, Standing Ovation, Bottom of the Map

Album Score: Beats-4, Lyrics-3.2=3.6

Rapper Stats: Flow-74, Versatility-75, Relevancy-83

Rapper Rating: 77.3

Comments- Jeezy’s first album is a “cult favorite” of mine. It has lots of good songs on it, but not much in terms of variety. However Jeezy’s ad libs are good, and the guest list is great which includes Jay-z, T.I., Trick Daddy,Bun B, and Akon. What stands out to me is that Jeezy can hold his own on most tracks without a guest rapper.

The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102

2006

Top Songs-Go Getta, I Luv It, Bury Me a G, Dreamin, 3 A.M.

Album Score: Beats-4, Lyrics-3.4= 3.7

Rapper Stats: Flow-78,V-77, R-85

Rapper Rating: 80

Comments- This album is a bit harder to review than TM101. TM102 is better, even though it gets off to a bad start. The rest of the album makes up for that. The beats are just as good, and Jeezy seems to be slightly better lyrically. The Ad libs are still in effect.

His guests include Keyshia Cole, R.Kelly, T.I., and Timbaland. Overall it’s a step in the right direction.

2007-Non Album Year

Rapper Rating+1=81

C-Jeezy remained pretty relevant in 2007. It was clear he was a force in Rap.

The Recession

2008

Top Songs- Put On, Vacation, Crazy World, Welcome Back, My President

Album Score: Beats-4.2 ,Lyrics-4= 4.1

R S: F-83, V-81, R-90

RR: 84.7

C- Jeezy came back hard on this album. It’s a great album either way you look at it. Most notably is that Jeezy varies his flow on this album, and he has more lyrical dexterity. He is rarely outshined on this album….maybe only by Kanye West on 1 song but that’s about it. Guests also include Trey Songz, Anothony Hamilton, and Nas.

2009-2010

Rapper Rating -2= 82.7

C-Only a 2 point deduction. Jeezy did have some guest spots on Rihanna’s album…as well as some others. However he wasn’t all that relevant as he was before.

TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition

2011

Top Songs- I Do, Fame, Trapped, Leave You Alone, Lose My Mind

Album Score: Beats-3.9, Lyrics-4= 3.95

RS: F-82, V-82 , R-83 , Critical Acclaim-70
RR: 79.3

C-TM103 is a pretty good album. I think it could have been better. For one some songs don’t stand out that much, and there’s too many guest spots. Overall it’s a good addition to Jeezy’s discography and I look forward to another album from him. YEAA!

2012

RR-1=78.3

C-Jeezy wasn’t non existant last year but you’ve got to think he could have been more relevant in 20 12.

Overall Album Score: 3.8

Non Album Year(s) Overall Score= 60.5

Rapper’s Overall Rating: 81.3

Final Rapper Comments: Young Jeezy is a dominant southern rapper. His albums are all good, and he’s become a relevant and potent lyricist. Unfortunately I think his best work may be behind him but time will tell.

Nas Albums Worst to Best

20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe has come back, and with a classic album. He seemed to be back on tracks with Food and Liquor II, but F&L2 wasn’t as fun to listen to as his earlier albums. Even LASERS was more fun. This album however, is very complex and fun to listen to. It’s also incredibly well produced. Lupe proves he’s still a top lyricist in the game. Check out his lyrical showcase on Mural, or storytelling on  Prisoner 1 & 2. He’s got a really long song called Chopper which features a lot of guests but its all good. The last song might be the weakest which features Ab-Soul. No Scratches feat. Nikki Jean is one of my favorite songs here. The interludes are pretty intersing, but ultimately skippable. This album is already up for album of the year, and honestly it will be hard for anyone to match this effort. The verdict... its 10/10 for me. This is a great album
