Kanye's 808's & Heartbreak I.D.R.

808’s and Heartbreak

Kanye West

In Depth Review

Opening Opinion: 8/10

This isn’t Kanye’s best album, in fact the others are so good it’s his worst. However, this album is ambitious and creative. I didn’t like the Auto-tune sound at first, but this sound really helped him make his next album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy so great.

The album starts off with a very very slow and laid back song, “Say You Will”.  The song is good but pretty long. After hearing it, you know exactly what kind of album you’re in for. After all Kanye’s mother had just died and he had broken up with his girlfriend at the time. These Heartbreaks translated directly into his music.  On the positive side this album has some really good beats.

The next song, “Welcome to Heartbreak” is kind of like the unofficial opener. Its an awfully depressing song with a hot beat. Its got Kid Cudi on the chorus. At this time, this was the first time I had ever heard of Kid Cudi. “Heartless” is up next and is arguably the best song here. Its got everything from a cool chorus, beat, and Kanye rapping on a part of it. The song is just amazing.

“Amazing” is a dark song, that is almost out of place. It features Young Jeezy who spits a good verse. Kanye’s autotune is well, so AMAZING lol. The song also has some random screams and stuff in the background, but its far from horrorcore.  “Love Lockdown” is a song I didn’t like at first. The lead single is really good however. The chorus is hot, and the beat is complex. It sounds kinda similar to the previous song but its much higher in tempo.

“Paranoid” is a banger. The beat is hot, but this is not a rap song at all. Mr. Hudson joins Kanye here. There’s not a whole lot to this song but the beat is fire. “Robocop” has a strong beat, and is very catchy like the previous song. However its certainly more bitter.

“Street’s Lights” and “Bad News” are just breakup type songs. The former is the better of the two but I like them both. “See You In My Nightmares” featuring Lil Wayne is good. The song is incredibly bitter. Lil Wayne doesn’t really hurt or add anything to the song. The beat is very lively like the one on Love Lockdown.

“Coldest Winter” is actually about Kanye’s mother who passed. It might be the best track here. Memories made in the coldest winter, says Kanye. The song is full of creativity and is a good closing song. Pinocchio Story is the actual final track. Its just him spazzing out a live concert. Its not very good.

2nd Opinion: Even though its far from perfect, Kanye’s Heartbreak tales are really good and deserve credit for being so experimental.

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blue Lips

Ok I am a big Schoolboy Q fan. I gotta say I love this album...but believe it or not what kept me from getting it till fall 2024 was that horrendous album artwork lol. I mean damn its gross! Schoolboy has some great flows and lyricism on this album. "Thank god 4 me" is absolute flames. "Blueslides" is another highlight. There's something about the song "first" that is just so catchy to me. "Yern" is also pretty hard man. The guest list is minimal but it works. The production is really good here too. The album isn't quite as good as Blank Face to me but its definitely a major improvement over his last album Crash Talk. Definitely check this one out. Lyrics 24 Beats 23 Depth 23 Tilt 23 Verdict 93

Album Review: Clipse- Let God Sort Em Out

Well I didn't rush this review, I've had some time to sit with this album. It's a hell of a comeback album. Pusha T and Malice are deadly as ever on the mic. The album lyrically is intense. Production is pretty good too but I expected slightly more from an album produced entirely by Pharrell Williams. Speaking of Pharrell, he's all over this album...sometimes not just relegated to a hook. The album gets off to a great start with "The Birds Don't Sing" where both brothers talk about their parents who passed. Pusha T raps about his Mom. Malice about his dad. I really liked the vibe of "All Things Considered"; the The-Dream feature is good. That brings me to the features....like a monster one from Kendrick Lamar on "Chains & Whips". Tyler the Creator does well on "P.O.V.". Nas is on the 2nd last track and he does well too. "M.T.B. T. T. F." is fire, and it stands for Mike Tyson Blow to the Face lol. Ultimately its h...

My Top Video Games of all time

I've done plenty of music lists, so i think its time to pay homage to my top video games of all time. I'm only going to mention games i've played. So, if a game you like is not up here(which I guarantee a few wont be) let me know. Lets get into it.... 1)       The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time- I have praised this game so many times, and it’s all well deserved. Ocarina has great controls and the graphics were nice at the time. I really love the story, and how the game is paced. You do a side quest of some kind, which generally isn’t long, then you go to a dungeon, get an item, use that item to get further in the dungeon, then beat the boss. Ocarina is, the best Zelda, and as of right now I don’t think that’s up for discussion. There are some really good Zelda games though such as Wind Waker, ALTTP(which made my list), and some others. 2)       Final Fantasy X- Final Fantasy X….is the only FF I’ve beaten, and I’ve played F...
