Best Rapper Ever Tournament Round 1 (Bracket C)

Bracket C

Seed 1) The Notorious B.I.G. vs. S8) Snoop Dogg
Flow: Close, but Biggie is one of those elite flowers. (10-0)
Creativity: I’m giving this a tie. Both rappers are pretty creative. Snoop has always been pretty creative. (15-5)
Storytelling: Biggie but not by much. Just listen to him on songs like “Niggas Bleed”. Snoop was also a good storyteller. (25-5)
Impact: Tough one. I say Biggie again. He’s just too iconic. Snoop isn’t far behind tho. (35-5)
Collaboration: I’m giving this one to Snoop. I might sound crazy but hey, lol. (35-15)
Versatility: Tie. Both rappers are very versatile. (40-20)
Albums: This is where it get tough. Biggie only has 2 real albums but they’re excellent. Snoop has some good ones too. And there’s tons of them. (45-25)
Commercial Success: I’m gonna have to give this to Biggie. Life After Death sold 10 mill by itself. (55-25)

Biggie wins here but not as easily as you’d expect with 55points.

2)Nas vs. 7)Missy Elliot
Flow: Not as clear cut as you think. But Nas wins this one. (10-0)
Creat: Nas is really creative but, Missy wins this one. Her songs are really creative. (10-10)
Story: Nas by a wide a margin!(20-10)
Impact: Nas but not by too much lol. (30-10)
Collab: Missy has been very strong guest collaborative MC as is Nas. So it’s a tie here. (35-15)
Vers: As much as I love Nas he doenst dominate many types of songs that well, but its still a tie. (40-20)
Albums: Hmm Missy has a really good discography with NO OBVIOUS Duds, but Nas has Illmatic, Stilmatic…nuff said. (50-20)
ComSuc: Nas wins here but not by much. (60-20)

With a dominating performance, Nas wins with 60 Points

S3) Raekwon vs S6)DMX
Flow: I feel both rappers have great flow. So it’s a tie here. (5-5)
Creat: Both rappers are creative, but when it comes to making unique music, I have to give the edge to the Chef. (15-5)
Story: Hmm. Raekwon is a great storyteller so there lol. (25-5)
Imp: I think DMX has an edge here, I mean I don’t see too many rappers copying the likes of Raekwon. Tough one tho. (25-15)
Collab: Both of these NYC rappers are really good here as well. But DMX has been more invisible lately so Raekwon gets the edge. (35-15)
Vers: DMX is a more versatile rapper. Rae is great but he tends to stay in his own lane. (35-25)
Albums: Cloooose, but Rae wins this category. He doesn’t really have many bad albums. DMX has a couple (45-25)
ComSuc: DMX dominates here. He’s actually one of the better selling rappers! (45-35)

Raekwon advances barely with 45points. DMX was a tough opponent.

S4) Lil Wayne vs. S5) J.Cole
Flow: Both rappers are great here. Tie (5-5)
Creat: Close but I think Cole jumps out to the early lead. His music is more unique that Weezy. (5-15)
Story: Cole easily wins this category. (5-25)
Imp: Lil Wayne is really influential and big for the game. Not saying J. Cole isn’t but hey. (15-25)
Collab: Tie. I feel both rappers really bring the fire on a guest verse opportunity. If this had been made in 2011 Wayne would have own. (20-30)
Vers: Ah S**t this is tough. Lets break this down. Wayne can make any kind of song. So can Cole. So….its a tie. Don’t judge me. (25-35)
Album: I need to break this down. J. Cole has no duds. Wayne has some. But Wayne’s best album has been out done by a couple or 3 J. Cole projects so J. Cole wins. (25-45)
ComSuc: Lil Wayne steam rolls J.Cole here. But both rappers are really commercially successful. (35-45)

J. Cole squeaks by with 45 points. This was a horrible matchup for Wayne.

Nas Albums Worst to Best

20)      Nastradamus (75)- It really shouldn’t be a surprise to see this one ranked so low. The lyricism isn’t abysmal but everything is pretty average. How does a song like “Big Girl” make it to a Nas album?? It’s just a boring album plain and simple….I don’t really have a lot to say about it. 19)          Street’s Disciple (82) -I hate having this one so low. I honestly like a lot of the songs on this double disc. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of filler here just like with Jay-z’s Blueprint 2. Disc one has hits like “Nazareth Savage”, “American Way”, “ Just a Moment” and “ You Know My Style”. Disc 2 has some heat on it too: “Suicide Bounce”, the title track, “Virgo”, “Bridging the Gap” and “Thiefs Theme”.   18) T he Lost Tapes 2 (86) -This one I admit I haven’t heard that much…but its pretty decent. It gets off to a good start with songs like “Vernon Family” and “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack)”. A lot of these songs are ok….but not muc...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth

Lupe has come back, and with a classic album. He seemed to be back on tracks with Food and Liquor II, but F&L2 wasn’t as fun to listen to as his earlier albums. Even LASERS was more fun. This album however, is very complex and fun to listen to. It’s also incredibly well produced. Lupe proves he’s still a top lyricist in the game. Check out his lyrical showcase on Mural, or storytelling on  Prisoner 1 & 2. He’s got a really long song called Chopper which features a lot of guests but its all good. The last song might be the weakest which features Ab-Soul. No Scratches feat. Nikki Jean is one of my favorite songs here. The interludes are pretty intersing, but ultimately skippable. This album is already up for album of the year, and honestly it will be hard for anyone to match this effort. The verdict... its 10/10 for me. This is a great album
