Tha Carter IV: Deluxe Edition Track by Track Review

Intro: This song has a hot beat, It seems Wayne wanted to structure this album like Carter II….with 3 tracks with the same beat.

8/10

Blunt Blowin: A really addictive song. I love the chorus and the beat is pretty good. “You don’t need a bus pass for me to bust yo a** n****”!

9/10

Megaman: A fast paced song. Megaman is an interesting title. Perhaps Wayne feels the beat is like some of the music in the video game….I don’t really agree.

8.5/10

6 Foot 7 Foot: The successor to AMilli. This song is almost as good as that song. Wayne goes hard on every punchline. Young Gunz’s verse is tight but it’s so fast you almost can’t understand what he’s saying. Overall it’s a dope track.

9.5/10

Nigtmares of the Bottom: This is an interesting style for Weezy. This is a slow song dominated by Piano. The song doesn’t really have a chorus but its decent.

8/10

She Will: This song is catchy but ultimately nothing new from either Lil Wayne or Drake. It’s about a gurl putting it on a real n**ga lol. I like the beat….and the chorus is good also.

7.5/10

How to Hate: Wayne is joined by T-Pain(Which seems like the millionth time) and the result is a song that is pretty good. This is an interesting song about a girl that Wayne is pissed at.

8/10

Interlude: A real dope song that doesn’t have Wayne on it. Tech N9ne goes first and spits a mean verse. He’s followed by Andre 3000 who also kills it. This song has the same beat as the interlude.

9/10

John: This is a hot song but it borrows lyrics from a song on Rick Ross’s Teflon Don album. I guess its only right that this song has Ross on it. Ross goes hard, outshining Weezy a little bit.

9/10

Abortion: This song is pretty good but Wayne seems to be everywhere on it. He continues to flow with a metaphor on almost every line. The chorus isn’t really that good either.

6.5/10

So Special: My favorite thing about this song is the chorus. John Legend kills it. Wayne seems a bit more focused on this one lyrically.

7.5/10

How To Love: An ode to a woman that “Could never figure out how to love”. Wayne straight sings on this song which isn’t like him. The song is decent despite it being so simple.

8/10

President Carter: When I first saw this title I remember thinking “oh yea we did have a President Carter” This song has an eerie beat, and a somewhat annoying chorus, but strong verses from Wayne. Its one of the only songs that seems to have a message on this album

9/10

Its Good: Wayne is joined by Jadakiss and Drake on this banger. The beat has a “this should be the last song on the album feel to it”. The song has no chorus, but it doesn’t really need it. Drake’s raps really well here,  and then he sets up Wayne, “Then November came and they let my n***er out”. Wayne goes pretty hard here, while taking a shot at Jay-z.

9.5/10

Outro: It’s odd that Wayne would not appear on the last song on his own album. Bun B starts it off on the same beat that was on the Intro and Interlude. Nas is up next, and he kills it. Then Shyne goes up next(where the heck has he been)….then the song is ended with a great verse from Busta Rhymes.

9.5/10

I Like the View: The first bonus track is pretty good. I really like the beat, as it seems pretty cohesive with the rest of the album.

8.5/10

Mirror: Wayne is joined by Bruno Mars here. This is a good song, and Wayne raps introspectively for once.

9/10

Two Shots: The beat is cool, but this song doesn’t really help the album out much. Wayne should have ended his album with something else.

6/10

This is not an easy album to review...theres average songs, good songs, and few great ones..so I'm gonna give this one 3.5/5 stars. It'll pass but its not as good as Carter II and III.

My Top Rappers of All Time List

30) Rick Ross (7.7) Essential Album: Teflon Don Starting off the list is Ricky Rossay. Ross has great delivery and a lot of good albums. He scores really high in the versatility category. Ross’s pen game has definitely gotten better from when he debuted in 2006 with Port of Miami. Ross’s biggest flaws were his storytelling and impact. Otherwise solid MC.     29) Young Jeezy (7.8) Essential Album: The Recession Another dirty south MC. Jeezy is one of my favorite rappers. He has a lot of good albums with no real duds. He does have the best ad libs in the game. His collaboration and versatility are high. He really brings the heat on his features. Storytelling and Impact weren’t that high but hey; hes tied with the next rapper.   28) Nicki Minaj (7.8) EA: The Pinkprint Arguably the most dominant female rapper of all time. Nicki really shines when features on others tracks. She usually steals the show like on Kanye West’s “Monster” song. She’s also really versatile; able to sing also and

My Favorite R&B Albums (as 2023 list)

Here are my favorite R&B albums. I'm not gonna do the countdown....I'm just going to list them. The last time I did a list like this was 2013. 1.       Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad- As her best album and the album that made her a star…it’s only right that as my favorite singer Rihanna takes the title. GGGB isn’t a perfect album but I love it. There’s a little something for everyone here. The smooth “Lemme Get That”, the party anthem “Don’t Stop the Music”, and the jam “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. “Hate that I love You” featuring Ne-Yo is really good too. This album is just always a blast to listen to. 2.       Amerie-In Love & War- When I made this list about 10 years ago, this was the number one album. I love this album so much. I was considering her “Because I Love it” album for this list too, but I don’t really go back to that one that much. This album is just a flamethrower of R&B execution. That first half is great with songs like : “Heard Em All”, “Why R U”, and

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s best tracks on it. There’s “Rollout”, “Move Bitch”, “Area
