From Worst to Best: Kanye West

Anyone that follows this blog or knows me knows that I am a huge Kanye West fan. But which albums are the best , or the worst? LEts get into it! I will be including Watch the Throne and Cruel Summer here.

9)808s and Heartbreak-80: This is the oddball in his discography. I always liked this album even if it took some getting used to. He abuses auto-tune here. I think it works for the most part like on songs like ā€œParanoidā€ and ā€œHeartlessā€. Kanye sings a LOT on this album. The lyrics arenā€™t up to Kā€™s standards(Old Kanye or New). The songs are pretty catchy however. This album kind of changed the game so if it were which Kanye album was most important, this would be higher on the list. Top Tracks: Heartless, Love Lockdown, Coldest Winter, Amazing.

8)Watch the Throne-91: I really like this album, but it sounds a little more dated than some of the other albums on this list. Itā€™s a very well rounded album with high replay value. ā€œMade In Americaā€ is the worst song and is quite corny. The album seems more tailored to Kanye than Jay Z, but Jigga is rarely outshined here. The two have chemistryā€¦but not as much as say Bad Meets Evil (Eminem & Royce Da 5ā€™9). TT: No Church in the Wild, N*ggas in Paris, Otis, H.A.M., New Day, Gotta Have It.

7)Cruel Summer-94: I hear there may be a Cruel Winter album on the way, and I hope it lives up to this oneā€™s quality. This is a collaboration album, but Kanye is on most of the songs. The production is great, and the album songs are very catchy. Jay Z, The Dream, Kid Cudi, Raekwon, and even R. Kelly drop by. ā€œColdā€ is a hot track, as is ā€œMercyā€ and ā€œNew God Flowā€. TT: Clique, New God Flow, Cold, Creepers, Mercy.

6) Yeezus-95: This is a very polarizing album for Kanye fans. I really like it. I mean it has great production(as with most every thing Kanye does). The lyricism was a step down from MBDTF, but still passable. ā€œIā€™m boutā€™ to wile the f*** out, Iā€™m going Bobby Boucheā€ lol. Itā€™s a really short album with just 10 songs. ā€œBlack Skinheadā€ is phenomenal as is ā€œNew Slaves.ā€ Iā€™m not really sure what could have made this album better. I mean he brought a cool Yeezus concept with lots of different styles. It was a fun album. Where the hell is Bound 1? Top Tracks: Blood on the Leaves, Bound 2, New Slaves, I Am A God, Black Skinhead.

5)The Life of Pablo-96: His most recent work is slap dab in the middle of his discographyā€™s strength. Itā€™s biggest problem again is its lyricism. Sometimes he spits struggle bars L. The production is fresh and unique sounding. The album kind of has a not finished feel to it, but it works. Songs like ā€œFreestyle 4ā€ and ā€œFadeā€ and ā€œNo More Parties In LAā€ are brilliant. And the opener ā€œUltralight Beamā€ with Chance the Rapper and Kirk Franklin are dope. TT: Fade, Father Stretch My Hands 1 & 2, 30 Hours, Ultralight Beam, Famous, No More Parties in L.A.

4)Graduation-96: Youā€™ll notice that this has the same score as Life of Pablo. That may or may not be a bad thing. This is my FAVORITE album by Kanye, but itā€™s by no means perfect. The production could have been a tad better, but lyrically heā€™s improved from Late Registration and College Dropout. The album is loaded with cohesive tracks. The album went head to head with 50 Centā€™s Curtis album, and well, if you donā€™t remember it sold about 300,000 more copies first f***ing week! You can kind of see the sampling genious of Kanye be refined here for a new sound like on ā€œStrongerā€. Overall itā€™s a bit dated, but so much fun to listen to. Top Tracks: I Wonder, Stronger, Big Brother, Flashing Lights, Good Life.

3) Late Registration-97: Originally I had this album 4th but Iā€™ve had a change of heart. His 2nd album is very very good. Thereā€™s just so much jam packed on this Kanye showcase. You get to hear Lupe Fiasco for the first time. Heā€™s got Jay Z on a remix of ā€œDiamonds from Sierra Leoneā€ and the original version. Youā€™ve also got ā€œGold Diggerā€ one of his best songs period. The album has flashy production and sharp rhymes. The skits are great too. Letā€™s just say Mr. West had the best rap album 2 years in a row (04-05). TT: Gold Digger, Diamonds F.S.L. and itā€™s Remix, Touch the Sky, Drive Slow, Gone

2)College Dropout-98: The one that started it all. Kanye came out as the Great Back pack Rapper. The album has SO MUCH creativity. Like Late Registration, the skits are funny and the beats are stellar. He samples so well here on songs like ā€œAll Falls Downā€ and ā€œThrough the Wireā€ his first hit. Who could forget about ā€œSlow Jamzā€ with Jamie Foxx or Jesus Walks. His raps arenā€™t flawless, but his rhymes are so smart tho. He even tells his story on ā€œLast Callā€. Quite the guest list too: Jay Z, Talib Kweli, Common, Ludacris, Twista etc. TT: Jesus Walks, All Falls Down, Slow Jamz[Extended], Never Let Me Down, Through the Wire

1)My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy-100: Maybe you saw this coming, maybe you didnā€™t. This album always gets a lot of praise from me, and deservingly so. Kanye had gone through and was going through a lot in his life at the time, and the result was his best album. One thing you might notice is his lyricism. Its top notch here. Like he gave every bar a lot of thought. ā€œPowerā€ is incredible, while ā€œRunawayā€ and ā€œBlame Gameā€ seem to blow away most anything on 808s. ā€œSo Appalledā€ and ā€œMonsterā€ are also great. ā€œAll of the Lightsā€ just blows away ā€œFlashing Lightsā€ from Graduation production wise. In fact the album has some of the best beats youā€™ll here on any album. It is a dark album as itā€™s title suggests however. Top Tracks: Power, Gorgeous, Dark Fantasy, Devil in A New Dress, Runaway, Lost in the World.

Album Review: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign-Vultures 1

This album review is way overdue. I've had a long time to sit with the album....I really liked it at first but it hasn't really aged as well as other Kanye projects. Kanye's lyricism has taken a noticeable decline. I mean hes not horrible but alot of these bars are bad or tasteless. Ty Dolla $ign on the other hand does a great job on pretty much every track. The production though, as with most Kanye albums is really good.   Some of it was reminiscent of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Yeezus. There are a few guest spots and most are well used. Hearing Kanye's daughter, North West, on "Talking"is cute. Freddie Gibbs steals the show on the hilarious "Back to Me". "Carnival" is a certified hit which features Playboi Carti & Rich the Kid. Overall most of these songs are good but I cant say this really adds much to Kanye's illustrious discography. Lyrics 19 Beats 23 Depth 22 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Video Game Review: Jedi Survivor

About a week ago or so I beat Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Im so happy I got a chance to play it cause they put it on PS4....yes I sadly as of early 2025 do not have a PS5 yet. But anyways I thought the game was considerable improvement over Jedi Fallen Order in most ways.  The game is set a few years after the end of the first game. One thing I like is you keep all your Jedi techniques from the first game Jedi Fallen Order. You can force push and pull and double jump right from the jump. Early in the game you also get access to a new lighstaber form dual wield. In this game there are 5 lightsaber forms. Single is good in any situation but not the best for ideal situations. I think double bladed has good defense but low range. Dual wield is fast but has low defense. Later on you get access to a blaster form which has great range. Then there's the Cross-guard which is Kylo Ren's lightsaber form...its slow in this game but has high damage and defense to it. The enemy variety in the...
