2011: Rap albums of the year

Here's my list, i hope you enjoy it. If you disagree leave a comment 10. Drake- Take Care: Coming back 1 year after last year’s Thank Me Later, this album isn’t quite as good, but it’s more cohesive than his debut. Drake also seems more comfortable this time around. I really liked about every song, especially Headlines and Take Care. Either you like this because of the singing, or you’ll hate it. Drizzy rounds my top 10. 9. Kendrick Lamar- Section 80: Kendrick’s album is very dope, and is certainly a good debut album. He raps about a lot of different topics like the late great Tupac would. The album has a lot of good songs on it. I can’t wait to hear more from this talented West Coast mc. 8. J.Cole- Cole World: Arguably the hardest album to review. It’s constructed in a unique way, and I had to listen to it a few times to really let it soak in. Cole’s lyrics are on point, yet his subject matter is kind of stale on ...

Transformers trilogy

I personally feel that transformers 3 was the best out of the 3 but only due to a plot twist and some really dazzling action sequences.Transformers 2 was diffrent than the previous one. The first one seemed to have a little bit of everything.  The 2nd movie had a lot of raunchy humor and racist robots....however revenge of the fallen had a great fight scene in the woods.   The final battle in Transformers 2 was lame and should have been a bit longer. Transformers 1: 4.5 Stars. My favorite scene: Optimus defeats Bone Crusher on the highway. Transformers 2: 4 stars. My Favorite scene: the fight scene in the woods Transformers 3: 5 stars. When Optimus gets free and pwns Shockwave and some other Decepticons

The Rap Album of the Year Awards

For this list I'm going off of the albums I listened to that year. Later I'll have a blog for 2011's album of the year, but I'm not really sure which album is the best yet... 2001: The Blueprint by Jay-z- This is one juggernaut of an album.....hell you could almost call this the blueprint for most all rap albums to come in the decade. Yes they must  be compared to BP1...this album is that good. Runnr Up: Word of Mouth by Ludacris-This was actually the first album I ever bought, and I hold it in high esteem. The songs are very entertaining. I still think this is Luda's finest work to date. There are so many hits on this one. 2002: Stillmatic by Nas- Even though it came out in 2001, I didnt really get this one till 02. Nas's 2nd best album in my opinion. He keeps it really real on about every track. Who could forget the awesome track One Mic? RU: The Eminem Show by Eminem- Another elite album from Eminem. This is a real close runner up. The beats are awe...

Track by Track Review: Rihanna-Loud

S&M: A very hot opener. It took me a while to figure out what S&M means. Rihanna urges a male listener to give it to her strong…she is a bad gurl indeed. 9/10 What’s My Name: RIh Rih is joined by Drake on this one. It’s a hot song, and it sounds pretty unique. After I hear the chorus I keep wanting to say “Robyn” lol. 9.5/10 Cheers(Drink to That): A crazy party song. Its kinda even toned…and its extremely catchy. 8.5/10 Fading: She sings about a love that Fades away. Its an okay song, but not really noteworthy. The beat is hot though. 7/10 Only Girl(In the World): The lead single is an absolute banger. Rih Rih’s vocals are extremely strong on the chorus. 10/10 California King Bed: A great song….It’s got a country/rock feel to it that I like. 8/10 Man Down: Rihanna has gone back to bad girl mode on this one. She apparently shot a man down….LOL. The song has a really cool beat, and the tempo is perfect. 8.5/10 Raining Men: Kinda of a reverse psychology son...

Recovery Track by Track Review

Recovery is an album that is kind of the album that Encore should have been. Despite his high energy on most every track, Em has mellowed down a whole lot. In fact this album has most normal subject matter of any Eminem album. Relapse was a little too violent and crazy, and his album before that, Encore was a little too silly. So how good is his 2010 album Recovery? I’ll go through each song. Cold Wind Blows : Eminem jumps right out the gate attacking Mariah Carey (again)…the song is long, but it’s the perfect mixture of ferociousness with humor. Eminem has a tendency to have people like Christopher Reeves talk in his raps …but this time he gets someone to do God’s voice…which is just over the top. This is a really good intro to Recovery. 9/10 Talkin 2 Myself : A very introspective song. Em takes you threw a journey of what he went through during his hiatus from the rap game and what he felt like during last year. The chorus from Kobe is really good. Also the beat is pretty ca...

Track by Track Review: Lil Wayne- Tha Carter IV: Deluxe Edition

Intro : This song has a hot beat, It seems Wayne wanted to structure this album like Carter II….with 3 tracks with the same beat. 8/10 Blunt Blowin: A really addictive song. I love the chorus and the beat is pretty good. “You don’t need a bus pass for me to bust yo a** n****”! 9/10 Megaman: A fast paced song. Megaman is an interesting title. Perhaps Wayne feels the beat is like some of the music in the video game….I don’t really agree. 8.5/10 6 Foot 7 Foot: The successor to AMilli. This song is almost as good as that song. Wayne goes hard on every punchline. Young Gunz’s verse is tight but it’s so fast you almost can’t understand what he’s saying. Overall it’s a dope track. 9.5/10 Nigtmares of the Bottom: This is an interesting style for Weezy. This is a slow song dominated by Piano. The song doesn’t really have a chorus but its decent. 8/10 She Will: This song is catchy but ultimately nothing new from either Lil Wayne or Drake. It’s about a gurl putting it on a...

Rap Regions: West Coast

Rap Regions West Coast Welcome ot the Westiiiiiide. The place where gangsta rap became more acceptable to the world. The west coast was on life support for many years with only Snoop Dogg makin hits. The death of the legendary 2pac was a big reason for this. Major Cities of Influence : Los Angeles ( Compton , etc) & California Key rapping traits: Lyricism are important, but more emphasis on delivery. The lyrics are very aggressive, in fact more hardcore than most East Coast rap. If it were a kid at high school: The upperclassman who’s a bully. He’s also fairly popular, but in more of an infamous way. Major Rappers 2pac: A LOT can be said about Tupac Shakur. For starters he really changed the rap game. I suppose his impact on the game can only be compared to Michael Jordan in the NBA. After Pac, rap was elevated to a new level. Pac wasn’t the best at flowing nor did he have the most clever wordplay, but his STORYTELLING and VERSATILITY were almost unrivaled. He h...
