Track by Track Review: Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Track by Track Review

I personally feel this was the album of the year last year. Let me take you through it track by track.

Dark Fantasy: An impressive Intro. The beat is amazing, dark, and vivid. Kanye describes himself as a “Chai town n**** wit a Nas flow”. The chorus is really amazing here as he is joined Leona Louis.

Rating: 9.5/10

Gorgeous: Kanye teams up with Kid Cudi and Raekwon(which were 2 of my favorite rappers in (2009). The chorus by Kid Cudi is dark, the guitar fuled beat is really good. Kanye’s verse’s are really good as he keeps it real. Raekwon’s verse is also good.

9/10

Power: Power reminds me a lot of Stronger. Kanye is joined by Dwele, but this is K’s show and he makes it clear. The rhymes and punchlines are incredible….at the end you hear a very psychotic power drunk Kanye West.

9.5/10

All or the Lights Interlude: Sad and soothing….

7.5/10

All of the Lights: The title reminds me of Flashing Lights from his 2007 album Graduation. West raps of the difficulties of stardom. He is joined by an allstar lineup for this one song. Rihanna handles the chorus well. Kid Cudi, M.I.A., Alicia Keys, and even Elton John are on this song. The beat is amazing and empowering. It kinda reminds me of some kind of victory song.

10/10

Monster: An interesting yet crazy kind of song. It’s kind of like an evil Swagga Like Us…Rick Ross is up first with a mediocre verse…but he’s followed by a very Egotistical West who afterward has a chorus where he boldly proclaims to be a motherf***in monster”. Jay-z follows with a monstrous verse…but he is followed by a show stealing Nicki Minaj who goes at Lil Kim I’m assuming.

8.5/10

So Appalled: There’s a lot of rappers on this song. Kanye is joined by a pissed off Jay-z and the other rappers like Pusha T go hard. The Swizz beatz chorus is ok, and the beat is creepy and threatening.

9/10

Devil in a New Dress: This controversial song has a really creative beat. Ironically the effort by Rick Ross here is really good as opposed to on Monster.

9/10

Runaway: This is where Kanye draws on his experience from 808’s and Heartbreak. This song is really hot….featuring a singing West who also raps and Pusha T. shows up again for a dope verse. The song does have that creepy feel to it, especially with muffled sounds near the end. Instead of being 9 minutes maybe this one shoulda been only 7 minutes not 9.

9.5/10

Hell of a Life: The darkest song on the album. Kanye is rappin fallin in love with a pornstar. On top of that the beat sounds like its from a video game and it has lots of variations which I like….There’s an evil voice in the background and gunshots mixed in for a Dark Fantasy…..

9.5/10

Blame Game: A sad song about a love lost. I love the beat, and again I like the 808’s feel. However the end with Chris Rock is just stupid, and he coulda taken that off and put another song up there.

9/10

Lost In The World: It seems Kanye intends to truly surpass “rap music” with this one. This track is amazing.  It has so many elements in it its never stale. The beat changes up and Kanye declares his loyalty to ….

10/10

Who Will Survive in America: A nice Spoken word piece. I like when he says “America is now blood and tears instead of milk and honey”.

8/10

Overall the album is pure genious. Yes its a lot diffrent than his first albums.....but actually he's incoraparated elements from College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, and 808's into this one album. It's not perfect, but i'll give it the justice its do with a 5 star rating.

Doja Cat Albums Worst to Best

Doja Cat has been one of my favorite rapper/singers of the past few years. Let's see which albums are the best from her. 5) Amala (88)- Doja’s first album is honestly pretty damn good. You can tell she was still refining her sound tho on this. The last 3 songs “Juicy”, “Tia Tamera”, and “Mooo” are so good. “Candy” is another banger. The album is really well balanced being pretty much good in all areas but not really great in any tho. Favorite Track: Mooo. 4) Scarlet (90)- Believe it or not, this was an album I was on the fence about getting. I’m glad I got it. This is a rap heavy album but there’s still plenty of singing here and there. “Demons” and “F**k the GIrls” are Doja at her roughest. “Attention” was a great single. “Agora Hills” is a nice cute track. The monster single “Paint the Town Red” is the best track however. This album wa a big departure for her, but for the most part it paid off. Fav. Track Paint the Town Red. 3) Vie (92)- This was Doja returning to her pop roots,...

Video Game Review: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

I happened to beat this game recently for the first time in I was just in awe at how epic this game is. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake (which I played on the ps4). This game was a ps5 exclusive however. I know I needed a ps5 if I was gonna play it. And last year I made that happen. This is a continuation of the story of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barrett as they fight against the Shinra Corporation and the evil Sephiroth. I'll try not spoil much. When the game starts you play as Zack who is a solider like Cloud. You saw Zack at the end of Remake. Basically story wise there is another dimension in this game and you play as Zach in it here and there. There is a relationship meter that the main character Cloud has with every party member….answering certain questions one way or another will change the relationship. I found this to be a cool touch that the first game barely had any resemblance of. The game's graphics are outstanding and characters look ...

Album Review: Doja Cat-Vie

The much anticipated latest Doja Cat album! I was very curious to see where she'd go after the dark rap heavy Scarlet. The path she took was a 80s sounding pop album. It took a few listens for the album to click with me but yeah its awesome. Doja is in her zone here on this album. She sings a lot and acts as her own featured rap artist which is interesting. The first 3 songs are pretty strong. "Cards" is sultry. I love "Jealous Type" too (the lead single). "AAAH MEN!" might be my favorite song however. The production is great but maybe not the best she's ever had. I liked most every song. "Silly!Fun!" and "Come Back" are also excellent. As far as features go there's only SZA on " Take Me Dancing". So basically we have a very strong album here...but maybe not quite as good as Planet Her but it’s very close. Maybe I'll do a Doja Cat album ranking in the near future. She's been one of my favorite artists sin...
