Late Registration In Depth Review

Late Registration

Kanye West

In Depth Review

Opening Opinion: 9.25

I was very very excited to buy this album when it first came out. Iā€™m pretty sure everyone was wondering could Kanye hit a home run again. And the answer is a resounding yes; even though his lyrics arenā€™t improved from College Dropout. The beats are also different. This isnā€™t necessarily a bad thing, but this album has a glossier sound than his debut album.

The album starts off with that teacher(yeah the faculty guy from CD) telling Kanye to wake up in his class. Then thereā€™s 3 great songs, Heard Em Say featuring Adam Levine(who was pretty popular at the time). Itā€™s a really nice laid back song. Then thereā€™s the explosive Touch the Sky which has Lupe Fiasco on it. Ah I had never heard of the Chai Town rapper before that song. Gold Digger is an anthem type song. Jamie Foxx is on the hook and the beat is very original.

After that thereā€™s a Broke Phi Broke skit, which is the first of 4 on the album. Its pretty funny. Drive Slow features Paul Wall and Consequence. The song is real laid back with a dope beat. Kanye goes first, and the other two rappers cannot steal the spotlight. Next is My Way Home, which lets Common rap by himself. This verse is really good opposed to the bars he had on College Dropout. The song isnā€™t all that great though.

The next song, Crack Music, has Game on the hook. He doesnā€™t add much to the song really. Kanye spits about how Blacks were oppressed and he talks about rap beingā€¦crack music, that real black music. Roses is a very personal song for Yeā€™. He talks about his Grandmotherā€™s passing. I love the chorus.

Brandy joins Yeā€™ on Bring Me Down. Itā€™s a pretty good song. The beat is nothing special as far as Kanyeā€™s beats go. Kanye takes jabs at unnamed rappers a lot in this song. The next song, Addiction, is simple but its one of my favorites. ā€œWhy everything that spose to be bad make me feel so goodā€¦ā€ The song is about Addictions to money and women mostly. This song continues to add to the glossy polished sound of the album.

Broke Phi Broke skit #2 is pretty funny. ā€œAint got no money, Aint got no clothes, Aint got no cars, Cant get no hoes!ā€ In an interesting move, Kanye puts the remix to his lead single Diamonds right here after the skit. Jay-z is on the song, and in the words of Yeā€™ he kills the track. For the first time on the album a rapper steals the spotlight from Kanye. That isnā€™t too surprising considering Jay is a top 5 rapper all time. The song is about Rocafella records being around ā€œForeverā€. The song is really really dope.

We Major is a long song, but its really good. The lyrics are dope, the beat is glossy as hell, and oh yeah Nas, yes Nas is on it too. After that is a BPB skit, itā€™s a nice set up for the next song, Hey Mama. Kanyeā€™s ode to his mother(R.I.P.) is one of rapā€™s best songs about a mother kinda like Pacā€™s Dear Mama. The song is good, but itā€™s sample is a little corny. Celebration is a song I donā€™t listen to that much, but its hot. The beat is about as glossy as you can get. The song is really catchy.

The BFB skit returns for the last time here. This one is hilarious as Yeā€™ is busted for ā€œEating everyday, and making beats on the sideā€. Kanye cannot explain his new shoes lol. Gone is a great song. It features Camā€™ron and Consequence. Itā€™s a great end to the album as Yeā€™s spits the last bars. The bonus tracks are Diamonds and Late. Both are great songs.

2nd Opinoin: 9.5/10
While its not quite as great as its predecessor, Late Registration is a win for Kanye. He avoids the sophomore slump easily.

Album Review: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign-Vultures 1

This album review is way overdue. I've had a long time to sit with the album....I really liked it at first but it hasn't really aged as well as other Kanye projects. Kanye's lyricism has taken a noticeable decline. I mean hes not horrible but alot of these bars are bad or tasteless. Ty Dolla $ign on the other hand does a great job on pretty much every track. The production though, as with most Kanye albums is really good.   Some of it was reminiscent of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Yeezus. There are a few guest spots and most are well used. Hearing Kanye's daughter, North West, on "Talking"is cute. Freddie Gibbs steals the show on the hilarious "Back to Me". "Carnival" is a certified hit which features Playboi Carti & Rich the Kid. Overall most of these songs are good but I cant say this really adds much to Kanye's illustrious discography. Lyrics 19 Beats 23 Depth 22 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Video Game Review: Jedi Survivor

About a week ago or so I beat Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Im so happy I got a chance to play it cause they put it on PS4....yes I sadly as of early 2025 do not have a PS5 yet. But anyways I thought the game was considerable improvement over Jedi Fallen Order in most ways.  The game is set a few years after the end of the first game. One thing I like is you keep all your Jedi techniques from the first game Jedi Fallen Order. You can force push and pull and double jump right from the jump. Early in the game you also get access to a new lighstaber form dual wield. In this game there are 5 lightsaber forms. Single is good in any situation but not the best for ideal situations. I think double bladed has good defense but low range. Dual wield is fast but has low defense. Later on you get access to a blaster form which has great range. Then there's the Cross-guard which is Kylo Ren's lightsaber form...its slow in this game but has high damage and defense to it. The enemy variety in the...
