Drake's NWTS Track by Track Review

Nothing Was the Same
Tuscan Leather- The intro is long, and Drake knows it. The beat changes up here and there. It’s a great opener. Drake immediately shows he is going to deliver a better album than Take Care or TML.
9/10

Furthest Thing- One of my least favorite songs, but it isn’t bad. The beat is hot and Drake does his singing thang.
8/10

Started From the Bottom-Drake loves to keep that 3rd track the banger track. Its not really one of the better songs but its catchy as hell. Drake says he came from the struggle but im not sure this song gets the message across. The only other thing is I wish this song was longer.
9/10

Wu-Tang Forever- A really dope song. WTF…(Hmm yea I’m abbreviating the title) doesn’t really have much to do with WU Tang Clan but it’s a different look for Drake. He continues the aggressive raps, but he effortlessly mixes that with singing.
9/10

Own It- This song comes right after WTF and that’s appropriate. It’s a slow song which feels like it could be off Take Care, but that’s not a complaint. “Next time we f*** I don’t wanna f*** I wanna make love” sings Drizzy.
8.5/10

Worst Behavior- Drake, for no reason at all gets tough again. He seems pissed on this song. Honestly if I had heard this in 2010 (Or 2011) I’d be like who is that rapping.
9.5/10

From Time- The first guest spot on the album goes to Jhene AIko. Man her voice is just so so so sexy! The song is right up Drake’s alley.
8.5/10

Hold On, We’re Going Home- The successor to Find Your Love is well, imo better than that. I relate the two songs cause Drizzy sings on the entire track. This is executed a little more flawlessly than FYL. As of right now I still haven’t seen the video though….
10/10

Connect-This where the album gets kinda mellow, and slow. But wait that is right up Drake’s alley. It’s good, I really like the use of the sample.
8.5/10

The Language-Drake is dissing again. This song is pretty creative. My only complaint…well Birdman drops in, I’m assuming to add flavor, but this song needs no more flavor lol.
8.5/10

305 to My City-The worst song on the album. It just doesn’t seem that smooth. I wont say its completely skippable, but you might as well.
6.5/10

Too Much- This is an incredibly soulful song. In fact I’d say its one of the smoother ones I’ve ever heard. The beat is on point. Drizzy is on point. “Like a potluck, u need to come wit it”.
9/10

Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2-This is one dope song. In fact it’s the dopest up here for the most part. Jay-z assists Drake again, and his verse is fire. PC is just so tight. PMM2 isnt bad either. Put them together great rap track!
10/10

Come Thru-This is a good song, but it doesn’t really stand out on this album. It’s still very good.
8/10

All Me-Drake is joined by 2 Chainz and Big Sean(2 artists I like a lot more than when they first came out.) This song is good but it’s not really about nothing. Big Sean also raps aggressively lol. (H** shut the f*** up) raps Big Sean.
8.5/10

The Motion-
Another good song, but sadly it doesn’t end the album triumphantly…I know it’s a bonus track but ….its decent.
8/10

My Top Rappers of All Time List

30) Rick Ross (7.7) Essential Album: Teflon Don Starting off the list is Ricky Rossay. Ross has great delivery and a lot of good albums. He scores really high in the versatility category. Ross’s pen game has definitely gotten better from when he debuted in 2006 with Port of Miami. Ross’s biggest flaws were his storytelling and impact. Otherwise solid MC.     29) Young Jeezy (7.8) Essential Album: The Recession Another dirty south MC. Jeezy is one of my favorite rappers. He has a lot of good albums with no real duds. He does have the best ad libs in the game. His collaboration and versatility are high. He really brings the heat on his features. Storytelling and Impact weren’t that high but hey; hes tied with the next rapper.   28) Nicki Minaj (7.8) EA: The Pinkprint Arguably the most dominant female rapper of all time. Nicki really shines when features on others tracks. She usually steals the show like on Kanye West’s “Monster” song. She’s also really versatile; able to sing also and

My Favorite R&B Albums (as 2023 list)

Here are my favorite R&B albums. I'm not gonna do the countdown....I'm just going to list them. The last time I did a list like this was 2013. 1.       Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad- As her best album and the album that made her a star…it’s only right that as my favorite singer Rihanna takes the title. GGGB isn’t a perfect album but I love it. There’s a little something for everyone here. The smooth “Lemme Get That”, the party anthem “Don’t Stop the Music”, and the jam “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. “Hate that I love You” featuring Ne-Yo is really good too. This album is just always a blast to listen to. 2.       Amerie-In Love & War- When I made this list about 10 years ago, this was the number one album. I love this album so much. I was considering her “Because I Love it” album for this list too, but I don’t really go back to that one that much. This album is just a flamethrower of R&B execution. That first half is great with songs like : “Heard Em All”, “Why R U”, and

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s best tracks on it. There’s “Rollout”, “Move Bitch”, “Area
