8)Double or Nothing -78: I don't have a whole lot to say about this one. The collaboration between Big Sean and Metro Boomin is pretty much what you’d expect. “So Good” with Kash Doll is really raunchy but it works. I don’t really have a lot to say about this project. The beats are pretty solid.
7)Finally Famous- 80: Ive been really hard on this album but you know what it ain’t that bad. “I Do It” was his first big solo single. Its pretty good. It’s funny that some would clown Sean for some of his bars on this album. “I’m Quagmire, I fuck hoes, my cash flow, I giggity get it” Yeah lol. “Wait For Me” with Lupe Fiasco is good too…..and I love the Kanye assisted “Marvin & Chardonnay”. Some of these songs haven’t aged that well but hey its not a bad album by any means.
6)Twenty88-87: This is the collaboration album with his former lover Jhene AIko. For the most part I really like this album. The 2 have chemistry as they’ve collaborated on previous albums. The first song “Deja Vu” Is very smooth. “2 Minute Warning” featuring K-Ci & Jojo & Detail is great too. I love the album closer “London Bridge” too. “Talk Show” is an interesting concept song.
5)Better Me Than You-88:The latest album from Big Sean is really laid back. In fact if you’re a long time fan of his you might find this album a little boring sometimes. “Certified” is my favorite song here. It’s a banger! “Black Void” was really dope too. The skit “Focus” kinda symbolizes Sean’s new mentality. Lyrically he’s pretty good here. The guest spots are good except for Kodak Black lol.
4)I Decided 88: This is a solid album. I admit I haven’t listened to it as much as some of his other albums. The album gets off to a good start with songs like “Bounce Back” and the legendary “No Favors” featuring Eminem. “Voices in My Head/Stick to the Plan” is very good too. I like “Sacrifices” with MIgos too. Overall tho this album doesn’t have enough to place any higher.
3)Hall of Fame 91: This might be my favorite album from Big Sean. After hearing it I was like; yeah he’s dope. It gets off to a good start with the introspective “Nothin is Stopping You”. “10 2 10” is pretty solid too. “Beware” featuring Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko is solid. The best song tho is “MILF” where a skit with an older lady is incorporated. The song features Juicy J and an in character Nicki Minaj. “It’s Time” featuring Young Jeezy and Payroll is another favorite of mine. Overall Big Sean avoid the sophomore slump with a great album.
2)Detroit 2 93: This album is actually tied with the top album. This is a sequel to his mixtape Detroit. This album features Sean at perhaps his lyrical best. It’s got a lot of guest features and of the most part they do well like Nipsey Hussle on “Deep Reverence”. My favorite song is “Body Language” which features Ty Dolla $ign and Jhene AIko. It’s such a smooth song. Friday Night Cypher features a lot of rappers but chief among them are Royce Da 5’9 and Eminem. Sean is really introspective on a lot of these songs like on “Lucky Me”.Yeah this one is really great!
1)Dark Sky Paradise 93: Yeah I believe this is the consensus best album from Big Sean. The first six songs are just bangers. I like the intro, “Dark Sky(Skyscrapers). Then there’s “Blessings” which features a very confident Drake. The big single “I Don’t Fuck With You” featuring E-40 is one of his best songs. I think it’s aged pretty well. “I Know” featuring Jhene Aiko is one of his best collaborations with her. “One Man Can Change The World” which feats Kanye West and John Legend is a beautiful song that you just wouldn’t have gotten on Finally Famous. The album isn’t perfect but the highs are so high its undeniable. The album is also very cohesive.
