Ne-yo Discography

Ne-yo burst on the scene in 2006 and he quickly became one of my favorite R&B artists. He is an excellent songwriter also as is evident on his albums.

In My Own Words- Ne-Yo’s debut album is arguably his best. This album has some really great songs on it like So Sick, When You’re Mad, Stay, and the sorrowful Time. Sexy Love is my favorite song here. It has a hot beat and a terrific chorus. Get Down Like That is another interesting song. The album also includes the remix to that song. After hearing this album there was no doubt that Usher had some competition from the “one” of R&B, Ne-Yo.

Because of You-The R&B crooner avoided the sophomore slump even though this album isn’t as good as his debut. You essentially have an album well rounded album here. I don’t like every song but that’s rare for an album anyway. The album has some nice beats, but most impressive is Ne-Yo’s lyrical execution. My favorite songs are Do You, Because of You

Rank #3

Year of the Gentlemen- This is a very deep album, with relatively no weak songs. The R&B crooner seems to worship women on this one. The first 5 songs are really good. The rest of the album seems more mellow, but it’s still executed really well. Fade into the Background is a very sad song, and is the conclusion to So Sick and Do You from his previous 2 albums. On the downside the beats are less than stellar, but it’s a minor complaint.

Rank #2

Libra Scale- This is Ne-Yo’s worst album thus far, but its really not a bad album. I really like some of the songs, while others just don’t really stand out from what he’s done in the past. Some stand outs include Beautiful Monster, Makin a Movie, One in a Million, and What Have I Done? Overall this just feels like an average effort by Ne-yo’s standards. Out of all the songs Beautiful Monster gets my nod for best song.

Kanye West 2 Part-Post (Revised Top Songs & Album Ranking)

1.       Gold Digger- To be honest, I didn’t like this song the first time I heard it. The beat is so infectious, and the lyrics are so clever, and that hook. Its his best song to date! He raps about a gold digging chick lol. 2.       All Falls Down- Kanye is extremely introspective on this song. The hook and beat make it great. This is ranked so high because it was the song that really propelled him to superstardom in 2004. 3.       Jesus Walks- A controversial song about Jesus being with those in need. Its just plain awesome. But I wouldn’t expect him to make a JW2 lol. Not in a million years. 4.       Can’t Tell Me Nothing- The best song on Graduation is dope. It’s a dark sounding banger. Kanye drops lyrical gems here. The Jeezy sample and the other sample are pure genius. 5.       Power- The aggressive first single to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy...

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Schoolboy Q-Blue Lips

Ok I am a big Schoolboy Q fan. I gotta say I love this album...but believe it or not what kept me from getting it till fall 2024 was that horrendous album artwork lol. I mean damn its gross! Schoolboy has some great flows and lyricism on this album. "Thank god 4 me" is absolute flames. "Blueslides" is another highlight. There's something about the song "first" that is just so catchy to me. "Yern" is also pretty hard man. The guest list is minimal but it works. The production is really good here too. The album isn't quite as good as Blank Face to me but its definitely a major improvement over his last album Crash Talk. Definitely check this one out. Lyrics 24 Beats 23 Depth 23 Tilt 23 Verdict 93
