This year's playoffs were incredible. Id like to give my thoughts on the rounds just like I did last year. Spurs and Pacers were #1 seeds....
1st Round
The first round was stellar. There were alot of game 7s. The Spurs went to G7 against a deceptively good Dallas team. Damian Lillard hit a 3pointer to get the Blazers to the second round. The Thunder had a very tough series against the Grizzlies. The Warriors might have got past the Clippers but the Clippers battled through off court adversity and won in 7.
In the East, things were also interesting. The Pacers were my pick to win the East. They really struggled against a versatile Hawks squad, but they still won in 7 games. The Heat dominated an up and coming Bobcats squad in just 4 games. The Wizkids made short work of the Bulls. I expected that series to go the other way. The Nets managed to squeak by the Raptors.
2nd Round
The 2nd round was a little more predictable. The Spurs dominated the Blazers and won in 5. In the East, the Heat managed to prove the Nets did not have their #. They bounced the Nets in just 5. I really expected that one to go at least 6. The Pacers beat the Wizkids in 6. The Pacers seemed to be getting back on the right track. The Thunder beat a tough Clippers team in 6 games too.
Conference Finals
Things were very intersting in this round. The ECF was pretty good. The Heat lost game 1, but they ended up wupping the Pacers in the next 3 games. Paul George played the hero in Game 5 and forced a game 6. The Heat dominated the Pacers in game 6 though and were undefeated at home at that point in these playoffs.
In the WCF, the Spurs took on a familar foe. The Thunder would lose the fist 2 games badly which i think came back to haunt them. In 2012 they did the same thing then won 4 straight...but this year only 2. The Spurs won easily in game 5.....and won a tough game 6.
Finals
This years finals were not very competive. The Spurs dominated game 1. The Heat responded in game 2 with a close win. Lebron played well but this series would be all about Leonard who dominated games 3-5. He became the Finals MVP, which may be suprising since he plays with Duncan, Paker, and Ginnobli.
Next season i expect the THunder to be there...but who knows.
