My Favorite Contemporary R&B Singers

1.      Trey Songz(4)- Trigga Trey finally topped my list. He was in the top 5 last time. He is incredibly consistent, and he knows how to make hits. Slow jamz, club bangers, u name it. I really didnā€™t think he had it in him, but Trigga is a borderline classic album. Thatā€™s 6 albums, with 3 or 4 being great.

2.      Janelle Monae(11)-Coming in at #2 is Janelle aka Cyndi Mayweather.  I predicted on the 2012 list that sheā€™d be in my top 5, and there you go. Sheā€™s the most creative artist on the list by far. Electic Lady was right up there with any R&B album released in 2013.

3.      BeyoncĆ©(6) ā€“B is back and better than ever. Her self titled album came out of nowhere and it was a borderline classic. It wasnā€™t quite as good as Bā€™day, but it was a major improvement over 4. Beyonce remains a force to be reckoned with. I donā€™t know if she can stay in the top 5 but all the evidence would say she can.

4.      Usher(1)-Ursherā€™s fallen back a lil bit from the top spotā€¦but not far. Iā€™m awaiting his next album. Obviously thoughā€¦he doesnā€™t have anything to prove. Heā€™s got a great discography, with Confessions being the best so far.

5.      Ne-Yo-He and Usher seemed to have been jocking for that top spot on my past 2 lists. The incredible songwriter remains in the top 5. R.E.D. was a good album, but far from his best albums. I think Ne-Yoā€™s next album will be good. Iā€™ve been a fan ever since I heard So Sick on the radio.

6.      Rihanna(2)-Rih Rih has a lot of albumsā€¦she seems to make them every year and half or so. Iā€™m still a huge fan but I couldnā€™t really put her in the top 5 again. Her last 3 albums have been great. She didnā€™t really show any signs of slowing down, although I have my doubts that she can make another album better than the last 3.

7.      Mariah Carey(same)-MC is back like she never left. She ditdnā€™t go anywhere on the list though. Her latest album The Elusive Chanteuse was great. Sheā€™s a veteran and it shows. Im not counting her out, but I expect her rank to go down.

8.      Alicia Keys(3)- Alicia fell a few spots but she is till in the top ten. I still think, overall, sheā€™s the premier R&B artist of the 2000s. Her last album, Girl on Fire, was really good. Iā€™m gonna say Alicia will bounce up a few spots if she makes a new albumā€¦but I donā€™t think she will be third again.

9.      Toni Braxton(14)-The veteran returns. She had a duet album with Babyface this year. It was a good album. I cant say if she will be on the list next time but she makes the top 10 this time.

10.  The-Dream(9)-Dream rounds out the top 10. Heā€™s similar to Ne-yoā€¦.and he makes some really good music. Not so much lately though. After the Love Trilogy things have been kind of average for him. Dream still remains one of my favorites.

11.  Amerie(2)-The good is Amerie made the list again. The bad is she hasnā€™t released a new album since 2009ā€¦sheesh. Got love for her though. Thatā€™s my crush right there. I still hold her 2009 album as one of R&Bā€™s best.

12.  Melanie Fiona(8)- Melanieā€™s done some guest spots since 2012, but she needs to drop an album. Iā€™m not worried about her though. She has a powerful singing voice, and the 1st 2 albums were very good.

13.  Frank Ocean(10)-Mr. Ocean has that voice manā€¦.I know heā€™s working on a followup to the great channel Orange album. Heā€™d be higher up if he had done moreā€¦but he still made the list.

14.  John Legend(13)- The G.O.O.D. music singer has a generally good discography. Heā€™s got 4 albumsā€¦I have yet to hear all of Evolver, but Love in the Future is tight. I predict JL will stay in the bottom 5 of the list.

15.  Lyfe Jennings(new)- LJ is the only new artist on this list. I really started liking his music more after 2010. Preaching and Blues manā€¦it works.

Album Review: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign-Vultures 1

This album review is way overdue. I've had a long time to sit with the album....I really liked it at first but it hasn't really aged as well as other Kanye projects. Kanye's lyricism has taken a noticeable decline. I mean hes not horrible but alot of these bars are bad or tasteless. Ty Dolla $ign on the other hand does a great job on pretty much every track. The production though, as with most Kanye albums is really good.   Some of it was reminiscent of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Yeezus. There are a few guest spots and most are well used. Hearing Kanye's daughter, North West, on "Talking"is cute. Freddie Gibbs steals the show on the hilarious "Back to Me". "Carnival" is a certified hit which features Playboi Carti & Rich the Kid. Overall most of these songs are good but I cant say this really adds much to Kanye's illustrious discography. Lyrics 19 Beats 23 Depth 22 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Album Review: Kid Cudi-Insano (regular version)

I gotta admit I didn't like this album that much when I first heard it over half a year ago. I've heard that Kid Cudi doesn't exactly play to his strengths....that's partly true. I do like his rapping here tho. Honestly most songs here kinda blend together....."Keep Bouncin'" is really hype....and it gets the album off to a good start. "At The Party" with Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott may be my favorite song. "Wow" with A$AP Rocky is another highlight. Overall tho I feel this album tries too hard to be trendy. Cudi needed to put more of his pain into it. I mean a happy Cudi album isn't a bad thing but it really seems odd to me. You're not getting alot of singing or hums here know what I mean? However the production I found to be very good. Cudi is one of my favorite rappers like top 20 and I guess this will do for 2024. Lyrics 20 Beats 23 Depth 21 Tilt 21 Verdict 85

Video Game Review: Jedi Survivor

About a week ago or so I beat Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Im so happy I got a chance to play it cause they put it on PS4....yes I sadly as of early 2025 do not have a PS5 yet. But anyways I thought the game was considerable improvement over Jedi Fallen Order in most ways.  The game is set a few years after the end of the first game. One thing I like is you keep all your Jedi techniques from the first game Jedi Fallen Order. You can force push and pull and double jump right from the jump. Early in the game you also get access to a new lighstaber form dual wield. In this game there are 5 lightsaber forms. Single is good in any situation but not the best for ideal situations. I think double bladed has good defense but low range. Dual wield is fast but has low defense. Later on you get access to a blaster form which has great range. Then there's the Cross-guard which is Kylo Ren's lightsaber form...its slow in this game but has high damage and defense to it. The enemy variety in the...
