Rap Regions Tournament East Coast Bracket Round 1

Nas vs. Ja Rule: This might be about as lopsided a matchup as you will see. Lets break down the rappers  by category…
Flow-Nas ha s a really crisp flow while Ja is ok…maybe decent at best. Winner Nas.
Delivery-Nas has great delivery but not really the best. Ja has ok delivery. Tie
Albums-Nas gets the nod easily, he’s the higher seed for a reason. Nas
Storytelling-Nas is arguably the best in the game at this, Ja Rule not even close. Nas
Legacy-Nas wins again…he’s just too much of a great rapper…Ja set the standard for melodic rapping…but Nas again..
Nas Wins 5-1

Talib Kweli vs. Jadakiss:These are two very different rappers and it aims to be a good matchup.
Flow-Talib has one of the best flows imo. Jada isn’t bad either.  Tie
Delivery- Talib has good delivery, but Jada has one of rap’s best voices…Jada.
Albums-Talib wins by a little bit. He just has more great albums than Jada who has about 2. Talib
Story-Talib is one of the best in this category. Talib
Legacy-This is tough. Jada is a great EC rapper, but Talib has been just as great. Niether are all that commercially successful.  Tie.
Talib Wins3-2

Jay-z vs. 50 Cent
Flow-Jay-z has one of the best flows in the game, and he’s pretty consistent too. 50 has decent flow too but I’m going to have to give this to…Jay
Delivery-50 mumbles his words sometimes, and Jay has great delievey….closer than you think but Jay.
Albums-Jay by a landslide. He’s got several albums better than 50’s best album.
Story- TIE. Both rappers are average story tellers.
Legacy- Jay in a landslide. 50 has not been able to stay that relevant despite a strong career start.

Jay-z wins 5-1

The Notorious B.I.G. vs. Fabolous: Does Loso have any chance against arguably the best overall rapper in the region??
Flow-The closest category. Fab is has a good flow but Biggie has a Great flow! BIG
Delivery-Not even close. Fab is a monotonish rapper and Biggie has terrific delivery. BIG
Albums-Biggie, while Fab has had some good albums, Biggie dropped back to back          classics.
Story-Biggie by a little bit. Fab is a good storyteller tho.
Legacy-BIG nuff said.
The Notorious BIG wins 5-0

Ghostface Killah vs. Raekwon: This will be a close matchup. These two rappers are elite.
F-Tie. Both have smooth flows can’t choose here.
D-Ghost-Not an easy decision but I feel Ghost brings a little more energy sometimes. He tends to stand out more if both him and Rae are on a track together.
A-Ghost. Its not a landslide, but he’s got more great albums…especially lately.
S-Raekwon. Again another close category but I think Rae’s a little better than Ghost.
L-Legacy wise I think it could go either way…Rae was more dominant early, but Ghost has been better lately. Tie
Ghostface wins 4-3 close one….

J.Cole vs. Nicki Minaj: This one will be close…but not too close..
F-Tie. J.Cole has a dope flow but I’ve seen Nicki improve here.
D-Nicki wins this one…why? She always brings it and she sings better than Cole.
A-J.Cole. Its not really that close. Cole’s last 2 albums have been better than Nicki’s best album.
S-J.Cole. Another easy win. J.Cole is a great storyteller.
L-Now this is tough. While J.Cole is a great rapper, Nicki is the dominant female rapper today…So, I’m goin to give this to Nicki by a lil bit to edge out Cole. Nicki.

It’s a tie, so….So I’m going to have a tie breaker; Commercial Success. Nicki
Nicki Minaj wins 4-3

My Top Rappers of All Time List

30) Rick Ross (7.7) Essential Album: Teflon Don Starting off the list is Ricky Rossay. Ross has great delivery and a lot of good albums. He scores really high in the versatility category. Ross’s pen game has definitely gotten better from when he debuted in 2006 with Port of Miami. Ross’s biggest flaws were his storytelling and impact. Otherwise solid MC.     29) Young Jeezy (7.8) Essential Album: The Recession Another dirty south MC. Jeezy is one of my favorite rappers. He has a lot of good albums with no real duds. He does have the best ad libs in the game. His collaboration and versatility are high. He really brings the heat on his features. Storytelling and Impact weren’t that high but hey; hes tied with the next rapper.   28) Nicki Minaj (7.8) EA: The Pinkprint Arguably the most dominant female rapper of all time. Nicki really shines when features on others tracks. She usually steals the show like on Kanye West’s “Monster” song. She’s also really versatile; able to sing also and

My Favorite R&B Albums (as 2023 list)

Here are my favorite R&B albums. I'm not gonna do the countdown....I'm just going to list them. The last time I did a list like this was 2013. 1.       Rihanna-Good Girl Gone Bad- As her best album and the album that made her a star…it’s only right that as my favorite singer Rihanna takes the title. GGGB isn’t a perfect album but I love it. There’s a little something for everyone here. The smooth “Lemme Get That”, the party anthem “Don’t Stop the Music”, and the jam “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z. “Hate that I love You” featuring Ne-Yo is really good too. This album is just always a blast to listen to. 2.       Amerie-In Love & War- When I made this list about 10 years ago, this was the number one album. I love this album so much. I was considering her “Because I Love it” album for this list too, but I don’t really go back to that one that much. This album is just a flamethrower of R&B execution. That first half is great with songs like : “Heard Em All”, “Why R U”, and

My Favorite Rap Albums (As of 2024) List

1.       Kanye West-Graduation -Coming in at number one we have Kanye’s 3 rd  album. Sure it’s not his best or flashiest but damnit I love it so much. Listening to this album just gives me so much joy honestly. “Champion” is a great song, then there’s a fan favorite pick “I Wonder”. I do think the lyrically dense “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is the best track. Who could forget the smooth “Flashing Lights”. It really amazing that Kanye was able to create another great soundscape that sounded very different than College Dropout and Late Registration. Honestly this album isn’t my favorite by leaps and bounds over the top 10; but its certainly still my favorite rap album. 2.       Ludacris-Word of Mouf- Coming in at number 2 is Ludacris. I think this album is his best while others may say Release Therapy or Chicken & Beer. Fun fact this was the first album I ever bought. Sure there’s some filler…but this album has a lot of Ludacris’s best tracks on it. There’s “Rollout”, “Move Bitch”, “Area
