I feel like blogging about how I feel opposed to always reviewing something.I don’t really give relationship advice often. It seems like I don’t follow my own advice sometimes. Like I always know what to tell a friend but I shoulda followed my own advice. So I’m going to say all that as a disclaimer, but what I go into by mostly personal advice.
Relationships are what I believe in. It’s why you holla at that fine girl. Or it’s why you in her dms. To be with her. What does it really mean to be in a relationship? No this is not about Netflix and chill. A random mindless sexual interaction is probably causing more harm than good. I’ve never done that but from what I hear one person has the mentality of hit and quit, while the other wants to form a relationship.
Alas I’ve gone off on a tangent. I think relationships offer a tremendous amount of things. You have someone to talk to, someone that you can share feelings with...it’s someone you can share your life with. No relationship is perfect. All relationships require work and time. Like most things in life you won’t get much out if you don’t put a lot in.
So how can you make a relationship work? Well, the truth is there’s no sure fire way to make one work. You need to communicate for one. Let your partner know how you feel. Set boundaries and rules. You have to make time to see them also. How can you feel a connection if you’re never around each other....I’ve tried to do the text or online relationship before. While doable it feels cheap.
If a relationship is hazardous meaning it always feels like you’re being put down or your partner is not giving nearly enough. I think that a relationship has to be not necessarily 50/50 but somewhere like 60/40. From experience I think that it’s unrealistic to expect your partner to give you what you always give back.
In closing I just wanted to put my views out there. I haven’t been in LONG relationships but I don’t think that matters that much. If it’s good it’s good if it sucks it sucks. Thanks for reading.
