Over the past decade I've become a fan of the WNBA. I gotta admit it took a while to learn the teams and I'm still learning a lot. Having WNBA modes in NBA 2k games have really helped though. Lets get into it
1st Round
1)Minnesota Lynx vs.8)New York Liberty: I honestly thought this would be a monster series.....I was wrong. New York was the most dangerous 8th seed maybe ever. Minnesota wasn't playing well to end the season. They got whooped in both games easily. The rookie of the year Olivia Miles was damn near un-playable. Oh well ,she'll be back.
4)Atlanta Dream vs. 5)Washington Mystics: I think this was another sweep. The Dream were just too much for this Mystics team. None of the games were close.
2)Goldenstate Valkeryies vs. 7)Dallas Wings: Now we get some parity. Goldenstate won won the first game rather easily but lost the 2nd setting up a do or die game in the Bay. The eventual champions got it done here tho but it wasn't easy.
3)Las Vegas Aces vs. 6)Indiana Fever: Ok so if you didn't know I'm a Las Vegas Aces fan. I was hoping they'd repeat but hey. But dont get it twisted Caitlyn Clark played ok but it wasnt quite enough. After 2 games it was split so we went to an all important game 3. Aja Wilson proved to be the world's best player here as the Aces advanced.
Semi Finals
Atlanta Dream vs. New York Liberty: This series was a best of 5 meaning you only needed 3 games to win. These games were very very close but Angel Reese proved to be a beast not only on the boards, but she was great period. This dominant NY team got swept!
Golden State Valkeryies vs. Las Vegas Aces: This was supposed to go the distance but the Aces had serious trouble against the defense of Gabby Williams and the Valkeryies. Game 3 was really close but Golden State persevered. Yeah this one had me kinda upset but oh well. I guess the Aces can't win every year lol.
Finals
The finals between the Golden State Valkeryies and Atlanta Dream was the best series yet. Both teams hung their hats on defense. The games were generally low scoring. GS won the first game but then looked to be in trouble as Atlanta won 2 in a row and easily. Angel Reese was on fire. GS made adjustments and won game 4 and 5. The Dream had their backs against the wall and won a 12:00pm game 6 fairly easily. Game 7 was slugfest. Either team could of won honestly. Gabby Williams came alive in the 2nd half and that was all she wrote. Both teams were looking for their first title. Congrats to Golden State!
